We’ve recently seen the PowerWash Simulator team collaboration with those behind Tomb Raider to give players the chance to clean the iconic Croft Manor, Lara’s stately home. Today a new creation comes about as the free Midgar Special Pack adds in some Final Fantasy goodness.

Available as a free expansion to Square Enix Collective and FuturLab’s brilliant PowerWash Simulator is that of the Midgar Special Pack. It’s on all formats – Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC – adding in five new levels that need a good clean.

The Midgar Special Pack is full of Final Fantasy brilliance, as it takes players to numerous iconic locations such as the charming Seventh Heaven bar and the breath-taking Mako Energy Exhibit, as well as vehicles and mechs both famed and feared, including the Hardy Daytona and Shinra Hauler, the Scorpion Sentinel and the Airbuster.

You’ll get the chance to become the ultimate dirt-activist with a militant approach to muck, whilst discovering new dirt-types such as bio-residue. And as you share in Avalanche’s mission to clean up Midgar, you’re in no position to turn down commissions, whether they come from Barret’s crew or Shinra’s big shots. Whilst the fate of the City may be muddy, perhaps you can help clear a path for a few plucky heroes…Midgar awaits.

The five levels include:

  • – The iconic Hardy Daytona & Shinra Hauler
  • – The mighty Scorpion Sentinel
  • – The charming Seventh Heaven
  • – The breathtaking Mako Energy Exhibit
  • – The formidable Airbuster

“We designed Midgar, the city of Mako in 1997. Who would have thought that we would be returning to these iron buildings in 2023 to wash off all the oil and dirt with a power washer? Now let’s get to work, over 25 years of filth isn’t going away without a fight,” said Yoshinori Kitase, FINAL FANTASY VII Director, and FINAL FANTASY VII Remake Project Producer.

Tetsuya Nomura, FINAL FANTASY VII Character Designer and FINAL FANTASY VII Remake Project Creative Director added, “When I heard about the proposal for a collab, I was quite busy with various other collabs and reviews, but I was especially excited about this one. I had just been playing PowerWash Simulator and was daydreaming about cleaning things from my titles. My immediate response was “let’s wash the entire Shinra building,” Unfortunately, that seemed to be a bit difficult, but the final line-up is exciting, nonetheless. This is something I have been looking forward to a lot and hope everyone has a great time!”

“It’s been an incredible privilege for the PowerWash Simulator team to recreate vehicles, locations and bosses from one of gaming’s most iconic titles,” said Dan Chequer, Lead Designer at FuturLab. “We’re all huge fans of the Final Fantasy franchise and hope our players enjoy cleaning the jobs down as much as we’ve enjoyed covering them in every type of dirt from bio to mako.”

“We’re so excited to be working with one of the most iconic franchises in gaming history for the Midgar Special Pack,” said Tímea Edvi, Director of Indie Publishing at Square Enix. “We knew that we wanted to do something really big to say thank you to the amazing PowerWash Simulator community for all their support – we can’t wait to see people playing it!”

You’ll find the download kicking around on the usual digital stores, with our Xbox Store in prime position to deliver the Midgar Special Pack to Xbox players. It goes without saying that you’ll need the base game of PowerWash Simulator first – but that’s on Game Pass and it’s a brilliant little time waster, so there’s a good chance you’ve got that in your digital library already.

DLC Description:

Your PowerWashing services are needed in Midgar! Combine the super-soothing fun of PowerWash Simulator with the gritty yet gripping world of one of Final Fantasy’s most unforgettable installments. It takes a lot of power to clean the mess left behind by Midgar’s usual suspects – Don Corneo’s lackeys, Professor Hojo’s specimens and Heidegger’s tech. Tackle new dirt types, such as bio-residue, as you clean up iconic locations, vehicles and mechs muddied by events you couldn’t dream of happening back home in Muckingham… Magic, monsters, mako – evidence of this world’s strife is everywhere. Frontline in the fight against dirt, it falls to you to restore Midgar’s metropolis back to its shining former glory, accepting commissions from all that request your power washing prowess – from Shinra’s big shots to Avalanche’s most loyal members. Discover their stories through text messages as you power wash to a sparkling finish.
