Another new game is added to Game Pass

If you’ve got the creative mind that put together both Limbo and Inside, then you should already be onto a winner. But throw in the power of Annapurna Interactive and that of Game Pass and you’ve got a game that should be seen as a must-play. That’s the case for the latest addition to Game Pass and Xbox today.

A new Game Pass must-player

We’re well used to seeing the subscription service build and change over weeks and months. But honestly, September has been a bit of a slow one for new games being added. We’re blaming the draw of Starfield for that. Now though a newbie arrives. Put together by one Jeppe Carlsen (lead for Limbo and Inside), helped along by the story-telling brilliance of Annapurna Interactive. That game? Cocoon on Game Pass and Xbox.

Also on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, Cocoon is the latest to drop into Game Pass and Xbox as a Day One debutant. It’s also a game that we think you should be playing as a matter of urgency.

See, arriving today, Cocoon is a sci-fi adventure in which you’ll be left to work your way through a weird puzzling world. These live inside orbs that you carry on your back. And so you’ll need to get to grips with the manipulation and combinations of these as you press forward.

Alien environments await, as a diverse set of worlds unfold. With various orb abilities to hand and guardians to face, Cocoon is one that should hugely excite. The push onto Game Pass should help that even more.

The key features are worth enjoying…

  • Worlds within Worlds: COCOON is a unique take on the puzzle adventure genre, where each world exists within an orb that you can carry on your back. Wrap your head around the core mechanic of leaping between worlds — and combine, manipulate, and rearrange them to solve intricate puzzles.
  • Alien Machinery: Interact with alien environments and biomechanical devices left behind by an ancient civilization. Journey through unique and diverse biomes, from industrial structures to massive organic caverns, and discover how they are connected to one another.
  • Orb Abilities: Each orb has an ability that can be unlocked, thereby turning the orb into a unique tool for you to utilize within other worlds. Use these abilities to uncover hidden pathways and objects, fire projectiles to trigger switches, and more.
  • Monstrous Guardians: Mighty guardians protect every world, and you must face them in fierce battles. Each fight is unique and requires you to master new and satisfying mechanics.

Play Cocoon on Game Pass now

You’ll find Cocoon releasing today on Game Pass, Xbox, Switch, Steam and PlayStation. It makes most sense to utilise the power of subscription. But you’ll also be able to pay up the required asking price if you prefer. The Xbox Store page will sort you out now matter the route you take.

Stick around for a review from us real soon. We’ll let you know how good Cocoon on Xbox is.

More changes for Game Pass?

There’s more coming to, and leaving from, Game Pass soon too. With September fast concluding we see a host of games get up and leave the service on the 30th. Beacon Pines, Despot’s Game, Last Call, Moonscars, Outriders, Prodeus and Weird West will all be moving out to make space for more games. Expect the likes of The Lamplighters League to arrive soon.
