Since launching late last year, Gears of War 4 players have often been left anticipating the arrival of each new month, with each monthly update bringing a bunch of new features to improve on the already fantastic experience as well as two new maps for the multiplayer community to dive into. August is no different of course, and now the latest map additions are available via the Xbox Store.
The first map to come into play is Forge Blitz. Forge Blitz is a more tightly designed version of the original map, making for faster-paced gameplay. The map takes place in the sand-swept COG steel works factory, suffering damage from a Windflare underneath a blazing hot desert sun.
Unlike the original Forge map, the secondary entrances to the Control Room and the elbow behind the Incinerator are removed. Exits from both spawns are also tightened up to provide less open space, and the Control Room has more angles and options for taking cover, meaning players must relearn the map once more. Just don’t get caught in the Incinerator.
The second map arriving in Gears of War 4 is the firm fan favourite map Canals. Canals is the beloved map first seen in Gears of War, before returning in Gears of War 2. Features of the map include the obvious canal that the mighty fortress from the COG town it was built in, as well as long, narrow and linear pathways, with three bridges that connect the hallway on one side with the pathway that contains the Pistol spawn on the other. On the outer bridges is a Longshot Sniper Rifle and the middle bridge houses frag grenades. Underneath the middle bridge, in the canal, players can obtain a Torque Bow. With it being a smaller map, it is recommended that you keep your Gnasher Shotgun with you, as close-quarter combat is to be expected.
Both of the new maps are available to download now via the Xbox One Store and on Windows 10 PC’s for all holders of the Gears of War 4 Season Pass. Those without the Season Pass can purchase both maps individually for the price of £4.19.

Forge Blitz Description:
Once a critical arm of the COG’s steel industry, this factory is now buried under a layer of sand. The incinerator can be activated from the control tower, obliterating anything caught inside.
A canal separates this mighty fortress from the COG town it was built inside of. Three parallel bridges define this narrow, close quarters fight.
