From the Behaviour Interactive team (they behind Dead by Daylight) comes Meet Your Maker, a first person building and raiding experience for Xbox, PlayStation and PC. It’s got a release date now too!

Due to launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC through Steam on April 4th 2023, Meet Your Maker is a post-apocalyptic first-person building-and-raiding game where every level is designed by players for the players.

This means that the gameplay elements will revolve around the creation and infiltration of stand-alone levels called Outposts. Here, players will switch between roles as they mastermind devious maze-like Outposts filled with traps and guards, then gear up for methodical fast-paced combat raiding other players’ creations.

You’ll take on the role of the Custodian, the servant to the Chimera; a living experiment which was created in order to save life on Earth. The thing is, you’ll need to head out into battle, hoping to get hands on the most precious of all resources – pure Genetic Material.

It all sounds rather promising if we’re honest and we very much look forward to seeing Meet Your Maker arrive on Xbox, PlayStation and PC in April. When it does, the key features will sit as…

  • Create to Destroy: Builders must create Outposts designed to lure, outwit, and kill trespassing players. To do so, they’ll combine a huge array of customizable blocks, traps, and guards as they strategically construct their deadly masterpiece.
  • Outwit to Survive:Players will also need to raid the Outposts created by others. Each Outpost will test their grit, wit, and reflexes as they try to get in, grab the GenMat, and make it out alive. No two Outposts will ever be the same, making for a highly replayable experience.
  • Cooperate and Connect: Those looking to play together can combine their creativity and build with a friend or join forces to raid Outposts as a team of two.
  • Unlock and upgrade: Players can invest collected GenMat to grow their arsenal of traps, guards, weapons, suits and more.

“On behalf of myself and the entire Meet Your Maker team, we couldn’t be happier for the chance to share a platform like The Game Awards alongside the industry’s best. We’re thrilled to turn the spotlight on the hard work of the team at Behaviour Interactive over the past years and couldn’t be prouder of what we’re creating. We couldn’t be more excited to get Meet Your Maker into the hands of our players and be wowed by their devious creativity and wit as they build their own Outposts, experience the thrill of raiding, and make the game their own starting April 2023,” shared Meet Your Maker Creative Director, Ash Pannell.

What do you think? The trailer is worth a little watch.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
