The time has come – the hand-made stop-motion adventures of Harold Halibut are finally here. And this is a game you should be playing as soon as possible.

Get fishy with Harold Halibut

Hotly anticipated – so much so that it was front and centre of our ‘best games for April‘ list – Harold Halibut has come about via the painstaking creations of Slow Bros. Years in the making, meticulously put together, there’s very little like Harold Halibut in the gaming world, and much of that is due to the model-making techniques that have been utilised.

It allows players to follow the life and times of Harold. You play this young lab assistant as you go about your business on a city-sized spaceship, one that is deep beneath the waves. It’s here where civilisations grow, people live, all whilst trying to find a way off the wet planet and back home.

Harold comes to the rescue, working his way through a retro-futuristic world, all in hope of discovering the truth behind his home.

And frankly, as our preview of Harold Halibut, and then our full review tell, this is an adventure you should be taking in at the very earliest opportunity. With Game Pass play on the table, there’s next to no reason to not get involved.

Harold Halibut Description

Harold Halibut is a handmade narrative game about friendship and life on a city-sized spaceship submerged in an alien ocean. It’s been 250 years since your home – an ark-like spaceship – fled an Earth on the verge of cold war to find a habitable planet to preserve the human race.

You are Harold, a young lab assistant for the ship’s lead scientist, Jeanne Mareaux. While most of the ship’s inhabitants have reconciled themselves to a life lived aboard the sunken ship, Mareaux still works tirelessly to find a way for the ship to leave the planet and find a new, dryer home.

But the weird, wonderful and diverse people of the FEDORA I keep Harold busy too… Until one fateful encounter plunges Harold into a world no one could have imagined – and one that may hold the key to Mareaux’s re-launch plans.

Join Harold as he explores a vibrant retro-future world in his quest to find the true meaning of ‘home’.
