Head to the feline underworld with Umbraclaw

The underworld awaits with Umbraclaw

Can you find hope in death with Umbraclaw as it launches on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC?

Available today on the usual formats – Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC – is Umbraclaw. It’s from the INTI CREATES team as they allow players to delve into the story of a house cat – Kuon.

Travel to the Soulplane

It’s this little feline who has passed away in the world that we know, awakening in the Soulplane, spending time in the realm of the dead. Personally, we’d rather spend time in the realm of Stray, but each to their own…

Umbraclaw is priced at £17.98 from the Xbox Store (expect similar elsewhere), challenging you to help the little cat navigate their way through the underworld, all in hope of returning to their owner. It plays as a 2D action adventure in which one hit means instant death.

Thankfully, in Umbraclaw you’ll have access to a special power, that of Anima Revive. It’s this which sees Kuon be revived, complete with an all-new skill, giving the ability to perhaps overcome the trials ahead; after all, cats have nine lives for a reason. It’s probably down to this ability that will allow Umbraclaw to deliver multiple endings, as your actions and decision play a part in the outcome.

With some stunning hand-drawn art work, immersive environments and a cycle of death to partake in, there’s a good chance that Umbraclaw on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam) will be of appeal.

If that is the case, hit up your favoured digital store right now – ours being the Xbox Store.

Umbraclaw Description

Umbraclaw tells the story of Kuon, a house cat who has died in the mortal world, after she awakens in the Soulplane, a realm of the dead. She must challenge the perilous underworld to return home to her owner in this 2D action adventure.

The player controls the cat Kuon as she searches for a way to open the “Boundary” to the mortal world and return home. The dangerous terrain and frightful fiends of the Soulplane present a near impossible challenge for a mere house cat. Any single hit to the tiny feline means instant death. However, it also means a new chance—Kuon has the power of “Anima Revive” to revive her with a new skill each time to help her overcome the trial before her.

Kuon’s story can meet a multitude of endings depending on her and the player’s actions and choices. Her struggles to break the cycle of life and death may even touch your very soul.
