Launcher Heroes fires its way to the world of Xbox

launcher heroes review 1

A single player, local cooperative or full-on online multiplayer party game, in Launcher Heroes you’ll be left to utilise a ton of weaponry in order to fulfil one objective – to wipe your opponents clean off the map.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, fully optimised for Series X|S as it goes, is Launcher Heroes from the Drewworks team. It’s priced up at $4.99 and for that kind of cash outlay you’ll find a party game that oozes fun.

At least, that’s the plan, as we’re not too sure fun will be at the fore of things once the rockets start flying and the artillery starts landing.

Whether you are looking to play alone against AI bots, or through the local cooperative or online scenes that the Drewworks team have integrated, Launcher Heroes will give you the tools you need for a decent little time. Game modes are seemingly plentiful, with Turn, Freeplay and Adventure modes present. These pretty much do as you would expect with the turn-based and freeplay options tasking you to remove any and all opponents from the playfield as fast as you can.

The Adventure mode lifts things to a new level though, as you work alongside those you previously bombed in hope of defeating the big bad Skulloss, saving the land in the process.

A cutesy little art style awaits those who splash that cash on a download of Launcher Heroes from the Xbox Store, with gamers able to play this one across Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S – if you’re on the new-gen consoles, you’ll find some full optimisation in the house. You’ll need to be in the North American region though; this one is currently unavailable in the UK.

Keep an eye out for some review thoughts from us.

Game Description:

Launcher Heroes is a tactical, artillery, party game where you try to knock your opponents off the world. Use an assortment of items such as bombs, rockets, and jetpacks to help you navigate and destroy the terrain. Play locally or online (up to 6 players in total) in a variety of game modes including: Turn, Freeplay, and Adventure. In Turn mode, you and your opponents take turns to try and knock each other off the world. In Freeplay mode (only available in online matches), you and your opponents all move at the same time, allowing for a more hectic experience. In Adventure mode, work along side your friends (or play in solo mode) to defeat Skulloss and save the Blastopia.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
