Let the drilling commence with Mr. DRILLER DrillLand on Xbox and PlayStation

2026's Best Games

In 1999, Mr. Driller started digging around on the likes of PlayStation, Dreamcast and Game Boy Color. After then running a series of follow up efforts over the course of a decade or so – with one of those being the 2002 Drill Land release on GameCube – everything went quiet. That was until earlier this year when Nintendo Switch and PC folk got the opportunity to take in a hi-def remaster. Now it’s time for Xbox and PlayStation players to do the same with Mr. DRILLER DrillLand.

Available right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PS5, Mr. DRILLER DrillLand is Bandai’s remaster of the classic, taking players who knew no better in years gone by back to a time when drilling was a thing in the gaming scene.

Priced at £15.99, Mr. DRILLER DrillLand whisks you off to DrillLand, a secret theme park that is hidden some 500 meters under the ground. It here where things are set, and it’s here where you and Mr. DRILLER will get working.

The premise is simple – dig until you can dig no more. With five unique attractions of the theme park each hosting various gameplay rules, it’s not quite as simple as going down until you hit rock bottom. Instead you’ll need to work on new ideas throughout, digging away until you reach – and defeat – the final boss of DrillLand.

An all-new Casual mode is in place for those content on just moving their way beneath the earth, whilst competitive options await local players looking to prove their worth. With online capabilities as well, there’s pretty much all the puzzles and drilling you could ever want, all found in Mr. DRILLER DrillLand.

Key features include:

  • • Mr. DRILLER returns! – The first Mr. DRILLER game featuring updated graphics and HD cutscenes!
  • • Dig your way to victory! – Each of the five attractions in DrillLand features their own set of unique gameplay rules. Can you dig your way through each attraction and defeat the final boss?!
  • • Competitive multiplayer modes! – Play with up to 4 players locally – race to the finish or battle it out in “Free-for-All” or “Doubles”!
  • • Take it easy! – All new “Casual” mode for those who want to enjoy digging through DrillLand at a leisurely pace!
  • • Enjoy playing Mr. DRILLER with everyone! – The game features a “four-player mode,” where everyone can enjoy playing “Mr. DRILLER” together. In addition, an online battle function has been added to this title! Let’s have fun with drillers from around the world!

We’ll be working on a full review of how Mr. DRILLER DrillLand plays on Xbox in the coming days, but for now you can head to the Xbox Store to pick up the download you need. You’ll find it playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, along with a PlayStation version if that’s your bag. Remember, it’s on Switch too.

Let us know if you decide to take a little trip to DrillLand.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
