The next game in Square Enix’s award-winning episodic series, Life is Strange, was unveiled during the Xbox E3 briefing. But where will this new adventure take us? Well, we’re going back in time!
Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a three-part episodic prequel, developed by Deck Nine Games, with the goings on still set in Arcadia Bay; albeit three years prior to the events of the first series. You’ll be able to take control of rebellious teenager Chloe Price as she forms an unlikely alliance and friendship with the rather popular, and beautiful, Rachel Amber. When a family secret turns Rachel’s world upside down, their bond must give them the strength to overcome their demons. Whilst there’s likely to be a great deal of emotional depth to the narrative once more, players must prepare to stick by their decisions as the ability to manipulate time is no longer at the end of their fingertips.
Although this latest story will be spread out across three episodes, anyone who buys the Deluxe Edition of Life is Strange: Before the Storm receives a bonus episode, “Farewell”. Fans of the series get one final chance to say goodbye to Max, who returns as the titular character for the self-contained bonus, with events taking place long before what’s happening in Before the Storm.
Players can get their hands on episode one of Life is Strange: Before the Storm on August 31st, 2017 when it releases for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. There’s also another Life is Strange project in the works, so we’ll bring you details on that when we find out more.
