Mangavania is a proper old-school action platformer!

How old-school do you want to get? Mangavania is taking it right back…

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One (you’re looking at two separate store pages for these), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC is Mangavania from Sometimes You and the developer, Alexander Nikolaev. 

This is about as old-school as you could ever get, as Mangavania takes you back to the good old days of gaming, providing a retro pixel arted test of your gaming skills. I mean, just look at the screenshots on the Xbox Store and a wave of nostalgia will hit you hard. 

Thankfully this one is priced well, running a £4.19 asking price from the Xbox Store. As mentioned though, you’ll need to be aware as much like all previous Sometimes You titles (Megalan 11, Witchcrafty), there are individual Xbox Store pages up and live for both the Xbox One and then the Xbox Series X|S versions of the game. At least that means you could well double your achievement and Gamerscore hit…

But should you be giving Mangavania a go? well, if you fancy being dropped into a world in which you join the life and times of a young ninja, Yuhiko, as he goes on the search for a cure for his brother’s illness, then the answer is indeed, yes. Just expect to be found traipsing and navigating your way through a host of dungeons, fighting back any foes you may come across as you go. 

We’re not sure Mangavania will have too much about it to be considered as a GOTY contender or as one of those games that keep you coming back for days, weeks and months, but as a little time waster of a few evenings, it should suffice. Keep an eye out for our review which should look to confirm that. 

For now, head to the Xbox Store and pick up either the Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One version of Mangavania – there’s even a Windows version on there too. It’s on PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC too.
