Minecraft and Unpacking arrive on Game Pass, as Microsoft announce their November game additions

We get to unbox two ‘box’-related games today on Game Pass – Minecraft: Java and Bedrock Editions (PC) and Unpacking (PC, Console and Cloud). Microsoft also revealed the other games we can expect in the first half of November, including It Takes Two, Football Manager 2022, Forza 5 and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition.

Minecraft has been a mainstay on Game Pass since time immemorial, but the release today allows two new ways of playing it. Java is for people with higher-end PCs, while Java players can only play with other Java players. It also offers more customisation, as you can download and make your own skins, while you can also download player-created mods. Bedrock is less demanding on your PC, and shares a community with console, cloud and mobile. Among other things, it has been optimised for controllers.

The other game out today on Game Pass, Unpacking, will either get you into a zen-like state, or will trigger some anxiety. It’s a game dedicated to unpacking your belongings into a new home. You’ll be emptying and removing boxes which will in turn give you more space to unpack those digital photo frames and cat trees. It’s out today on PC, Console and Cloud, so there is no excuse to avoid it.

Alongside the unexpected addition of Unpacking, we’ve got some official announcements of what’s coming in the first half of the month, and it’s frankly stellar. The headliner from our perspective is It Takes Two (4th November; console, cloud and PC), which wasn’t previously announced, but is a co-op wonder that everyone should play. We gave it a 5/5 and can heartily recommend playing it.

Also announced was Kill it With Fire (4th November on Console, Cloud and PC), Football Manager 2022 (9th November on Console, Cloud and PC), Forza Horizon 5 (9th November on Console, Cloud and PC), Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – The Definitive Edition (11th November on Console) and One Step from Eden (11th November on Console and PC).

Finally, it’s hard to say goodbye, but some games are also leaving this month. Expect to say goodbye to the following on November 15th: Final Fantasy VIII HD, Planet Coaster, Star Renegades, Streets of Rogue, The Gardens Between and River City Girls.

Not bad huh? Let us know what you think about the announcements in the comments below, and we’ll be getting you an Unpacking review as soon as we can.
