Ready to slash and slice with Mordhau on Xbox and PlayStation?

For fans of the medieval combat genre, intent on slicing heads and cutting throats, then the console release of Mordhau is something that has certainly been on your radar. Well, today is the day, as one of the genre’s biggest titles makes its way to Xbox and PlayStation.

High Levels of Complexity

It has been consistently argued that, where Chivalry 2 is the medieval combat title for the casual gamer, Mordhau is its bigger, badder and more complex cousin.

Developers Triternion have lovingly crafted a realistic, but entirely fictional, medieval world in which up to 64 players take to the battlefield in all-out war. Mordhau on Xbox and PlayStation features a deep level of strategy when it comes to positioning your weapon; you’ll have to think on your feet regarding when to block, riposte, parry and attack.

It may be best, therefore, for new players to start off in the ‘vs CPU’ modes before venturing into the sweaty online realm. Whether you practise your skills against AI, or team up with friends in a horde mode, this is the best place to learn all of the fundamentals. Of course, there is nothing stopping you from jumping in at the deep end!

A Diverse Arsenal

Before jumping into your first match, attention turns towards creating your very own soldier. in Mordhau on Xbox and PlayStation.

After sculpting their face and picking out individual pieces of armour to create your own outfit, you’ll then be forging your own weapon from an array of presets. Whether a greatswordsman or an archer, Mordhau offers the opportunity to create your own weapon through combining individual parts. Before long, your trusty blade will slice off its first head – what a moment!

Key Features

  • Massive battles: From small-scale engagements to 64-player all-out war in modes such as Frontline and Invasion.
  • Cooperative & offline play: Fight waves of enemies alongside your friends in the cooperative Horde mode, or practice your skills offline against AI.

I'm an avid gamer who will play pretty much anything... but stick an open world or adventure game in front of me and I'm more than happy.
