From the New Star Games team comes New Star GP, a retro-styled racer that is on the verge of taking to Steam Early Access. The big news though is that this exciting arcade racer will be coming to Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch too.

Seen as the most ambitious of games to drop through the New Star Universe, New Star GP has today gone and found itself a home on Steam. Working an Early Access route from 8th August 2023, New Star Games promise to create an exciting arcade motorsport title with stunning retro visuals.

Steam and then console!

Initially making the most of Steam Early Access, you’ll find a full Career Mode included here. That will let you start off in the 1980’s, before working your way though the decades, upgrading your car and support team as you go. You’ll also be able to go high score chases in the Championship Mode. Alternatively, split-screen will let you race with up to three friends.

The initial Early Access version will have races set in both the 80’s and the 90’s, containing 56 individual race events. It’ll see you taking in iconic racing venues like Brisbane, Quebec and Côte D’Azur. As Early Access moves toward a full release, there are plans to evolve the Career Mode to include future decades of racing along with new cars, locations, tracks and rivals.

The Championship Mode has a selection of different championships to play in either single player or with up to three other players, with plans to add more content while in Early Access.

A New Star GP on Xbox?

For us, whilst any new racer is a welcome one, it’s the announcement of a console release that is most exciting. New Star GP is coming to consoles, with that launch initially planned for Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. When? Well, we don’t know, but more details on the console versions will be announced soon. We’ll be sure to bring it to you.

For now, kick back with the trailer for New Star GP. And get over to Steam if you fancy checking it out from August 8th 2023. You should be able to wishlist it before then.

If you can’t wait but need a retro racing fix, Retro Formula Racing: World Tour will have you revved.
