It’s won BAFTA awards and has been loved the world over – yep, Okami HD is coming and it’ll be hitting Xbox One, PS4 and PC in the coming months.

In fact, come 12th December 2017, you’ll find Okami HD arriving in Europe both in digital and physical form on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

First released back in 2006, the original title received much critical and consumer acclaim, hailed as one of the most beautiful games ever created. This latest release brings the Sumi-e ink art style and promises to be even more breathtaking then before. as the graphics have been updated to take advantage of modern high resolutions.

In Okami HD players take on the role of Amaterasu, the Japanese sun goddess who inhabits the form of a legendary white wolf Shiranui on a quest to defeat Orochi, an eight-headed demon and tyrannical monster responsible for turning the world into a ruined wasteland. Players must use Amaterasu’s magical abilities and arsenal of items, attacks and Celestial Brush techniques to restore the land of Nippon to its previous glory full of life and colour. Along the way, Amaterasu will be called upon to help a cast of quirky and intriguing characters and defeat a bevy of brutal enemies to rid the land of Orochi’s curse.

You’ll get to choose between playing through proceedings with the more modern widescreen format or with the original release’s 4:3 ratio. Interactive loading game screens from the original game have also been promised, allowing players to earn bonus demon fangs which can be traded for in-game items.

Okami HD will be available digitally for all formats £15.99 / €19.99 / $19.99 on 12th December 2017. It will be compatible with Xbox One X and PS4 Pro whilst featuring stunning 4K graphics on Xbox One X, PS4 Pro and supported PC hardware.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
