Pixel-art? Check. Action RPGing? Double check. Early 2021 release on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and Steam? Triple check. Yep, Cereal Games’ Pecaminosa is certainly one to keep an eye on.

Coming to Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC thanks to a collaboration between the development team at Cereal Games, and those of Badland Publishing, Pecaminosa will give you the opportunity to put yourself slap bang in the shoes of former detective – one John Souza – as you go about trying to solve all kinds of cases on the streets of Pecaminosa.

Set to arrive in Q1 2021, Pecaminosa is a fictitious city set between Mexico and the United States; a hive of corruption and debauchery. it is however here where this former cop encounters an unexpected visitor from the past. You see, the ghost of Charlie “Two Angels”, a fallen mob boss, appears before Souza with a proposition: help him capture his former associates, so he can redeem himself, and be allowed unto Heaven.

Sounds easy, yeah? Well, we’ll see when Pecaminosa launches on console and PC. What is promised though is the chance to fully explore a typical city of the 1940’s, one that comes complete with a stunning level of detail, which is particularly noticeable in the interior of the buildings, with them decorated with touches of vintage jazz inspired by film noir classics.

Further to that, the LIFE system will come into play; everyone that gets to play Pecaminosa will also be able to customize the main protagonist with a significant variety of weapons and apparel, as well as enter casinos and play gambling mini-games. And if that’s not enough to put the hard sell on you, those at Cereal Games don’t hide their influences when creating Pecaminosa, describing their creation as a mix between Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and the imaginary of Orson Welles; the overall aim being to provide a unique and impactful experience to the players.

We will of course keep you fully updated as to the progress of Pecaminosa as the weeks and months progress. For now, hit up the trailer below and then hold tight for 2021 to begin to roll into view. By then you should be done with the whole Mafia Trilogy and this may well help scratch a further itch.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
