Forget about Fortnite, for many PUBG is the king of the Battle Royale scene, and today the PUBG Corporation have dropped details regarding a ton of goodies the way of gamers – namely Cross Network Play, Faster Updates and a stunning visual enhancement to Erangel.
The big news regarding PUBG is the fact that cross network play is being added to PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS on Xbox One and PS4, unlocking a larger player pool, shorter wait times and a more unified experience. This Cross network play will release on the public test server in late September, with thing going live in early October.
But in addition PUBG Corporation have also promised faster console edition updates. Console players (Xbox One and PS4) will be able to dive into content sooner than ever before, as updates will now launch within two weeks of their PC counterpart. This will kick off with Season 4 of PUBG from August 27th, seeing all in-game content caught up and ready to roll across all platforms.
“Our console community has provided us endless support since launch and we’re committed to providing them with ongoing improvements and a rich pipeline of new content and experiences,” said Ashley Youngsun Nam, Head of Console for PUBG Corporation “With the release of cross network play and faster console edition updates, we’re looking forward to creating a more integrated experience. More importantly, we’re happy to finally deliver on the two most requested features from our console community since launch.”
That’s not all though and come that big day of August 27th when Season 4 hits, console players will get access to a new Erangel, one hit with a massive visual update. This will provide a striking new look to PUBG’s first and most iconic map. The classic map now features new building styles, more realistic scenery and terrain, clues around the history of the island, and some changed areas within the map, allowing players to explore the battlegrounds like never before.
It is then when Survivor Pass 4: AFTERMATH will arrive too, providing unique missions and rewards to players looking to get the most out of the season. A new progression mechanic called co-op missions will allow players to progress through the pass by achieving certain milestones together too, unlocking new rewards.
So, is PUBG on Xbox One still the king of Royale? We think so but let us know what you think by posting in the comments.
