It’s all well and good sitting in your front room, gaming away with your closest mates and never seeing the outside world. But gaming is about connecting, and there is no better way to meet like-minded people than by taking in a gaming festival or two. With 2018 in full swing, the Rapture Gaming Festival is gearing up to take some of the very biggest names in the industry around the UK.
A huge tour taking in five different venues and delivering a variety of special guests will be hitting the UK between July and October as the Rapture Gaming Festival 2018 celebrates everything game related. Opening on 20 July in Colchester, the show will be found visiting Reading, Fife and Cardiff before closing in Newcastle on 12-14 October.
Initially formed as a powerful collaboration between two of the most experienced names in the world of entertainment – European gaming events company, Fragers, and UK-based show promoters, Kilimanjaro – the Raoture Gaming Festival brings the virtual gaming world onto the live stage, energising gaming communities all across the country.
With family friendly daytime shows that are suitable for all ages, allowing guests to immerse themselves into a live gaming experience like no other, you’ll find that the main Rapture Stage plays host to tournament finals, interactive games and panel interviews with experts on how to become an online streamer.
For the older ones among us, there’s an 18+ night, creating a festival after-party atmosphere, for those who wish to take their gaming on to the next level.
The Rapture Gaming Festival will also host a 60-hour Bring Your Own Computer (BYOC) LAN party (at all venues except Fife) with its own prize tournaments hosted on dedicated private servers. LAN ticket holders will enjoy early access to an exclusive over 18s LAN area from 10am Friday and can enjoy a whole weekend of gaming until 10pm Sunday.
With no fewer than nine separate zones at each event, gamers are in for a real treat with so many awesome gaming experiences to get involved with:
- Minecraft & Roblox Zone and Stage – a huge dedicated area with dozens of consoles & PCs and includes a tournament on each day.
- General Gaming Zone – hosts all modern freeplay content, including the latest console & PC games as well as unique gaming experiences and equipment.
- VR Zone – one of the most popular zones, with over 6 VR setups including HTC Vives, Oculus Rift and Playstation VR.
- Tournament & Competition Zone – gamers can put their skills to the test against other friends and festival-goers.
- Retro Gaming Zone – pays homage to some of the classic consoles and games, to transport the older generation back to their youth.
- Tabletop Gaming Zone – from Warhammer to WW2, gamers can bring out their ‘inner geek’ here and socialise with the whole Rapture community over some tabletop games.
- Indie Zone – a chance to get up close and hands-on with independent game developers.
- Merch Zone – displaying merchandise and souvenirs in the festival market.
- Cosplay Village – from prizes in the masquerade, to talks and live demos, to just sharing your creations and photo opportunities, our cosplay community is here for you.
Special guests stars have been promised at every venue, so expect to find streamers, YouTubers, vloggers and even a chef, as the Festival combines a huge variety of gaming opportunities with plenty of thrilling stage entertainment.
