Cast your mind back to the start of 2021, and you may remember a new entry into the colourful farming sim genre known as Summer in Mara. We were big fans of this title, especially given the vibrant haven of a world that it allowed you to explore. Now, platforming fans can jump back into the tropical world of Mara, embarking on a heroic journey with Koa and her loyal friend Napopo in Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC.
A Pirate Adventure!
Releasing today on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC, Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara has been heavily inspired by the likes of Super Mario 3D World and The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, by the admission of developers Chibig. Talpa Games and Undercoders were also behind it. The latter two studios were behind 2021’s cutesy platformer Mail Mole, which can be seen in this whimsical 3D platformer today.
Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara will have you slowly unlocking areas of a summery archipelago. It’s this place which is full to the brim with secrets to discover and collectibles to pick up. And of course the biggest, baddest pirates across the islands to defeat.

Despite its cartoony graphics, Koa and the Five Pirates of Mara can give anyone a real challenge, if they seek it.
Whilst the devs are keen to emphasise that all can enjoy this platformer, they encourage anyone with a speedrunning streak to test their skills here.
