It’s the game that inspired a whole new genre and today we find Wasteland being hit with the Remaster treatment to launch on Xbox One and PC, with Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Play Anywhere capabilities in tow.

Available to grab from the Xbox Store, Wasteland Remastered takes what was brilliant about the original 1988 game and hits it with the full remastering treatment, giving a whole new breed of gamer the opportunity to discover the game that inspired a whole generation.

Taking place in the year 2087, Wasteland Remastered sees you dropped into the boots of a Desert Ranger, heading out into the American Southwest in the hope that you can defend the last of humanity against a radioactive hell. With multiple partners to recruit, and plenty of choices to be made, your job of protecting the lives of many depends on the decisions you make.

Priced up at just £9.99, if you’re looking to get in on the post-apocalyptic action that unfolds within Wasteland then the low price point certainly allows for a bit of a punt. But what’s even more interesting is the fact that inXile Entertainment’s partnership with Xbox Game Studios, Wasteland Remastered is also debuting on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. If you’re one of the many, many, many Xbox One owners who subscribe to the brilliant scheme, and are finding that the launch of Two Point Hospital is a bit too pleasant, then it’ll be a no-brainer for you to spend some time in the Wasteland.

With Xbox Play Anywhere capabilities included as well, taking Wasteland Remastered across both Xbox One and PC is a cinch too.

Should you wish to know more about the game then just make sure you keep an eye out for our full review. It’ll be with you soon but chances are this is going to be one Wasteland you’ll want to frequent.

Game Description:

Originally released in 1988, Wasteland brought the post-apocalypse to video games and inspired a genre. Play one of history’s defining RPGs with completely overhauled graphics, sound, and expanded musical score. The year is 2087, nearly a century after an all-out nuclear war turned vast swaths of the Earth into a radioactive hellscape. You are a Desert Ranger, a band of stalwart lawmen who are the only hope left in what was once the American southwest, and good people’s last defense against hunger, sickness, ravaging raiders, and mutants. Now something more secretive and sinister is menacing humanity, and it’s your job to investigate. Recruit help and follow leads—the choices you make will shape the world around you. Choose wisely, your life and the lives of those you’re sworn to protect depend on it.

I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
