High-intensity top-down vehicle combat, anyone? Gearshifters is getting set to steer, drift, spin and smash its way to glory on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC this coming autumn.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world, and developed by Red Phantom Games and published by our friends at Numskull Games, Gearshifters is getting set to race onto Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam very soon, as the high-intensity top-down vehicle combat game drops in October 2021. It will be available digitally on Xbox and PC (Steam) stores, as well as both physically and digitally on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
Gearshifters throws you into the 2060s, as “The Collapse” of capitalism and democracy takes hold. It’s here where a rookie driver, known as a Gearshifter, delivers critical packages from a secluded HQ to imperilled neutral zones. Making dangerous transport runs means battling aggressive factions of weapon-laden vehicles and their mega-machine bosses – and that is where you come in. Players will race across the dystopian landscape in the hope of reaching the mysterious Citadel where world-changing secrets await discovery.
In this modernised shoot-em-up experience, you should well expect to take on rogue-like elements as you traverse a post-societal world that makes up the solo adventure. Taking the most perilous routes, fulfilling high-stakes delivery missions to ensure the safe arrival of precious cargo – only the most skilled Gearshifters will survive.
Gearshifters will feature nine different zones, 27 stages, and a customisable car, as players choose from three gameplay modes:
- Arcade – for those wanting to get straight into the action
- Standard – for those wanting a narrative-led experience
- Deadly – for those brave hardcore players
For now it’s well worth taking in the trailer below. From there, hold tight until October when Gearshifters launches on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC. There will also be physical editions of Gearshifters on Switch and PS4, including a Standard version (game only) and Collectors edition (including game, OST CD, unique limited edition clothing patch as well as art cards).
