You may have already been looking forward to seeing Worms W.M.D hitting your console as a digital download later this year. Well, if you’re a fan of the old school physical variety, then you’ll be happy to hear that it’ll be dropping onto store shelves too!
Team17 have today announced that along with their distribution partner Sold Out, the upcoming Worms W.M.D will be arriving in boxed retail form on Xbox One, PS4 and PC. With a fresh, new look, 2D cartoon-inspired worms and gorgeous hand drawn landscapes, players will be able to utilise exciting new vehicles and even enter buildings for that extra little strategic and tactical gain.
Tanks will be ready to trundle across the landscape and helicopters will be in place to rain bullets down on any unsuspecting enemy as you take in an extensive single player mode with training, campaign and challenge modes, or compete in crazy local and online multiplayer modes supporting up to 6 players with up to 8 worms each!
It’s traditional wormy warfare…but not as you know it!
CEO of Team17, Debbie Bestwick, said, “After recently celebrating Team17’s 25th anniversary, 2016 marks 21 years for the Worms franchise. Besides making lots of us feel old, we listened to our loyal fans to create what we believe is the definitive Worms experience in W.M.D. Fans will now also be able to pick the game up in boxed form from retailers around the globe”.
“Sold Out has helped Team17 successfully place multiple versions of Worms onto store shelves, and it’s a pleasure to be taking on similar duties with Worms W.M.D. We think long-term fans of the Worms series will appreciate an engine that maximises the fun of Worms classic physics and gameplay. Team17 has truly captured the essence of fantastic titles like Worms World Party and Worms Armageddon to deliver what will be the best-selling version of the Worms experience to date,” added Garry Williams, CEO of Sold Out
We will of course keep you fully up-to-date with all things surrounding the release of Worms W.M.D including letting you in on the release date once it becomes available.
