The Dark Skies descend on Generation Zero as new free and paid DLC hits

We keep forgetting about Generation Zero, at least until new updates and DLC additions pop up and build the base game out. After having first arrived back in 2019, that’s fairly understandable, but the team at Systemic Reaction continue adding new drops on a fairly regular basis. Today it’s the turn of both some free and paid DLC to hit home, all as the Dark Skies begin to descend.

Generation Zero is a stealth-action hybrid in which you – alone or with friends – go about traversing the land in front of you, attempting to unravel the mysteries that lie in wait. It’s a game that has been doing the rounds for some years now, having rocked up onto Xbox back in 2019. Since then though, it’s continued to evolve.

Thanks to the Systemic Reaction team, the evolution carries on as Generation Zero gets whacked with the Dark Skies update. Free to all Generation Zero players no matter whether they are on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 or PC, Dark Skies adds in a new Soviet machine, a new Tuned Moped, a new missions, some weapons skins and more.

Details of the freebies are fairly substantial, runninng as follows…

  • New Soviet Machine: The third unique Soviet Machine is here! Inspired by the bird of legend, the Firebird is a large bomber drone equipped to fight both infantry and armor by flushing enemies out of cover from overhead.
  • New Side Mission: The Soviets have gotten reinforcements, and it’s up to you to take down the new Firebirds and their beacons before they retake the town of Hagaboda!
  • New Vehicle: The Tuned Moped is an all-round motorbike that’s faster than the bicycle (but less stealthy) and handles well on asphalt.
  • Weapon Skins: Players can now equip weapon skins via a new attachment slot, with five free weapon skins available as random loot when killing special enemies.
  • “New Game” Revamp: You can now have up to four characters across four separate game worlds at once (up from four characters limited to only one world previously), letting you start new games without deleting your existing worlds or characters.

But there’s more and should you find that the free love just isn’t enough to satisfy your needs, Generation Zero players can also get hold of the Motorbikes Pack DLC for £5.99.

We’re not sure we need to go into huge detail as to what the Motorbikes Pack brings (pretty much as it says it on the tin), but should you decide to go all-in with Generation Zero will discover that the bundle delivers three additional bikes to the game – the Dirtbike, the Military Motorcycle and the Resistance Bike). Each of these are hit with four colour variations and unique gameplay characteristics.

Should you not yet have hit the Swedish frontline in Generation Zero and want to get involved, you’ll find the base game on the usual stores for Xbox, PlayStation and PC. The Xbox Store is our favoured, especially since this is currently powered by Game Pass. You’ll need that base game to enjoy the latest DLC, whether it be the free or paid variety.

Let us know in the comments if you decide to grab it.

DLC Description:

You can now travel through Östertörn on new types of Motorbikes! It’s faster. It’s louder. It’s more exciting! The motorbikes will get you places quicker, but they’ll need fuel to drive. Plan your travel strategically so you won’t run out of gasoline unexpectedly, and be sure to check out abandoned cars and gas stations and find jerry cans to fuel up. Or craft the fuel by yourself! You can ride on 3 different models.
