There’s been much movement and hype behind The Medium ever since it was first confirmed as being a thing by Bloober Team back in May. Now though comes confirmation that it’ll be launching exclusively on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with that release date now known.
Coming from Bloober Team – they behind the likes of Observer and Layers of Fear – The Medium looks set to be a bit of a system seller when it drops onto Xbox Series X|S and PC on December 10th 2020. And if you can’t wait to get your cash down, pre-orders are live from today. When that release date rolls into play, The Medium promises to give players access to two visually distinct worlds simultaneously – the real world and the spirit world through dual-reality gameplay that has been patented by Bloober Team. It is there where you’ll find yourself in the body of Marianne, a medium hounded by visions, living and interacting across the two worlds through her psychic energy.
To celebrate the news, the team have dropped a brand new video, one that showcases The Medium’s terrifyingly beautiful dual-reality world. Inspired by the dark art of Polish artist Zdzisław Beksiński’s art and his dystopian surrealist work, the Bloober Team’s artists have closely studied Beksiński’s paintings to bring the visually distinct and nightmarish atmosphere to life, pairing it with an evocative score from Arkadiusz Reikowski and Akira Yamaoka to create a truly eerie experience.

As an added bonus though, Bloober Team is also giving away a new track, Marianne’s Theme by Arkadiusz Reikowski, from the original soundtrack as a free download. Available via Steam it will allow players to prepare for a disturbing journey into the spirit world.
