Instead we have a brand-new fantasy tactical RPG, more words that should instantly excite you. Unicorn Overlord is out today on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

A new RPG with a strong pedigree

Unicorn Overlord comes from Vanillaware, the developers responsible for 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim and Odin Sphere. Despite them not being available on Xbox, fans will tell you to seek them out wherever you can.

Unicorn Overlord features a typical tale of high fantasy: You and your party must embark on an adventure to claim back what is rightfully yours; the throne. With a unique tactical RPG battle system mixed with overworld exploration and a timeless tale, it may be enough to rekindle your love in all things tactical.

Unicorn Overlord also features:

• Traverse a vibrant world, assemble units and direct them into exquisitely animated battles
• Perform heroic deeds and grow renown throughout the five nations
• Cultivate a grand army with over 60 unique characters, from humans and elves to massive beasts and heavenly angels

Try before you buy

If that sounds up your street, then there is a demo for you to try right now. This gives you access to the first five hours of gameplay. Best of all, your progress will transfer over to the main game if you choose to purchase it. Although, our review will have all the details you need coming soon.

But if you want to jump straight into the game, again you have choices. First off is the standard version of Unicorn Overlord, on the Xbox Store now priced at £54.99. Then there is the Unicorn Overlord Monarch Edition for £59.99. This includes a 132 page digital artbook and a 16-bit arranged music album. Just in case the nostalgic feelings of Unicorn Overlord weren’t enough already.
