the wizard and the slug

It may not initially seem like a match made in heaven, but today we discover The Wizard and The Slug teaming up in order to take in new adventures on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

Available today for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch, The Wizard and The Slug is the latest game to come from the Ratalaika stable, as the indie publishers join forces with Meridian4 to deliver an all-new adventure to console.

It’s priced well – just £4.99 from the Xbox Store for instance – and sold as a whimsical little fantasy adventure in which a host of platforming ideas come to the fore. It sees you joining the lives of a fugitive wizard and a forest slug, as an unlucky twosome is made. With the two working together, you’ll get the opportunity to traverse the lands ahead, slowly and surely unraveling the mysteries that surround an old ancient curse.

Utilising the speeds of the lug and the spells of the wizard, jumping, dashing, shooting and moving your way through thie 2D action platformer promises to provide a host of great gaming action, with some fun and quirky silliness thrown in too.

It’s helped that there are multiple endings to enjoy as well.

The key features in all include:

  • Join a wizard and a slug on a grand adventure
  • Platform action gameplay
  • 3-act story with multiple endings
  • Unique health system
  • Accessibility features
  • Expansive original soundtrack

The Wizard and The Slug can be downloaded from the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S (fully optimised). It’s also on PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

Stay tuned for a review.

Game Description:

Play as the fastest, most agile slug in video game history together with a spellcasting wizard companion. A unique mix of fun and epic, this quirky and silly tale offers creative and fun platforming action gameplay.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
