A Left 4 Dead style-game set in the Alien universe sounds like a match made in heaven, but as anyone will tell you, the Alien franchise has a very hit-and-miss past in videogame land. However, you can be the judge of the latest title, as Aliens: Fireteam Elite launches today on Xbox, PlayStation and PC.
After the massive success of Alien: Isolation recreating the terrifying atmosphere of the original Alien film, Aliens: Fireteam Elite has gone down the much more action-oriented Aliens sequel route. A team of three Colonial Marines will face-off against relentless waves of various Xenomorphs in four campaigns (and a Horde mode) set after the original Alien trilogy. Another stark reminder that almost everyone involved wants you to forget that Alien: Resurrection ever existed.
In single-player, two AI partners will back you up, but Fireteam Elite is also fully playable in multiplayer. Players across generations of Xbox consoles can team up with each other to shoot over twenty different enemy types including several different types of Xenomorphs both old and new and other classic enemies.
Players will have the choice of five different classes that will each have their own unique weapons and abilities to take down the literal thousands of Xenomorphs you will be facing off against. Complete missions for various weapon and outfit customisation items and make your Colonial Marine stand out from the crowd. You can even throw in Challenge cards to mix things up further.

For those interested in Aliens: Fireteam Elite on Xbox, you have a couple of different options to choose from. The standard edition will cost £34.99 and features the full game, whilst the Deluxe Edition comes in at £57.99 but this includes the Endeavor Veteran Pack and Endeavor Pass which will include four additional cosmetic bundles that will arrive alongside major post-launch updates.
There are also a couple of DLC options present too. The now standard Deluxe Edition Upgrade will let you purchase the Standard Edition of the game, and then upgrade at a later time for £29.99, whilst the Hardened Marine Pack for £3.29 adds in some cosmetic items for your Marines. The £7.99 Endeavor Veteran Pack adds even more skins, accessories and Challenge Cards for good measure.
