King’s Bounty II is the sequel that has been some 31 years in the making. But now it’s here.
A lot has happened since the initial release of King’s Bounty back in 1990 but today the same tight and tactical RPG goodness has been given a new lease of life with the release of the sequel, King’s Bounty II launching on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Nintendo Switch.
Choose from one of three playable characters to chart your journey across the land of Nostria. Traverse this often dangerous world as either Aivar the Warrior, Katharine the Mage or Elisa the Paladin with their own unique backstories and abilities.
However, these character abilities can only get you so far as in King’s Bounty II, as you command your army to do most of your dirty work. Hire units from a choice of dozens whilst getting the balance right within your army; if one unit comes from a contrasting alignment to those already in your army, you will know about it.
There are four alignments to balance between and these act as your skill trees, but also help you to make decisions within the branching narrative: Anarchy and Order are opposites, and Power and Finesse are also.
This sprawling, tactical RPG is definitely a lengthy game with a lot of intricacies to delve into should you wish. As such, our review isn’t quite ready yet, but it is coming. Stay tuned.
King’s Bounty II on Xbox has two different options for you to choose from in the store. The standard edition costs £54.99 but there is also the Lord’s Edition for £59.99. This comes with the Rod of Deception, Frosthammer, Staff of Harmony, Tyrant’s Sword, Armor of the Hollow and the Heroes & Villains Premium Pack as extras.
