Long-standing fans of the horror survival genre may be aware that the famed Alone in the Dark (1992) was the first ever 3D survival horror title, and one of the first games to use polygonal characters on pre-rendered backgrounds. It is, without overstating, one of the most important titles in gaming history, setting the precedent for the likes of Resident Evil and Silent Hill. And now we can celebrate the upcoming release of the brand new Alone in the Dark with a special, extremely limited, collector’s edition.
A Stellar Cast
Alone in the Dark on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC (release date TBC) is a love letter to the 90s original, following the re-release of the cult classic onto Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, Wii and PC in 2008. It sees both Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood venture to the eerie Derceto Manor, in search of Emily’s missing uncle, and the source of the freakish monsters that litter the mansion.
With Emily voiced by Jodie Comer of Killing Eve fame, and Edward’s dulcet tones coming from Stranger Things’ David Harbour, the cast put together by Pieces Interactive and THQ Nordic is worth the price of admission alone.
