shantae and the seven sins

In recent times we’ve had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in a couple of Shantae titles, with both Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse and Shantae: Half-Genie Hero providing more than solid additions to our gaming libraries. WayForward know that they are on to something special with the Shantae franchise though and today they have dropped big details – and a tentative release date – for the next game – Shantae and the Seven Sirens.

Shantae and the Seven Sirens will be coming to Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC come May 28th 2020 – with that release date potentially impacted by the global pandemic that is currently occurring.

When it does arrive though we’ll be found whipping our hair and shake our hips once more as Seven Sirens delivers an adventure that contains new locales, friends, enemies, and transformations. Additionally, an update containing the adventure’s epic conclusion is now available on Apple Arcade should that be your gaming bag.

Packed with multiple towns and more labyrinths than ever before, Shantae and the Seven Sirens promises to combine the most popular elements from past Shantae titles into the Half-Genie hero’s biggest outing to date, beginning when Shantae visits a tropical paradise where she befriends new Half-Genie allies. As with any videogames, things quickly go awry as she discovers that sinister secrets are stirring beneath the island’s surface! As Shantae gets wrapped up in the island’s mysteries, she’ll use all-new dance abilities and instant-transformation Fusion Magic to explore the nonlinear, interconnected world and battle an assortment of diabolical foes… not the least of which are the enigmatic Seven Sirens!

With spectacular animated cutscenes bringing the story to life, a jaw-dropping anime-style opening created by renowned animation house Studio TRIGGER, and other new features including 4K support and a collectible card system that lets players augment Shantae’s powers in a variety of ways, it is looking good for fans of Shantae. Even more so if you are looking to run the physical route as both a standard and collector’s edition of the game is planned from Limited Run Games.

Key Features of Shantae and the Seven Sirens include:

  • Traverse an expansive, interconnected world above and below the sea!
  • Use Fusion Magic to change instantly between all-new creature forms!
  • Belly dance to activate machinery, restore health, and more!
  • New characters and returning favorites like Rottytops, Sky, Bolo, and the nefarious Risky Boots!
  • Gorgeously animated TV-style cutscenes!
  • Collect and power up with Monster Cards!
  • Enjoy minigames, acquire magic and items, and uncover secrets!
  • 4K-resolution hand-painted visuals on PS4 Pro, Xbox One X, Mac, and PC!

If you’re a huge Shantae fan and can’t wait for the next opportunity to go hair-whipping then May 28th is the date you should be putting in your diaries. Of course, should this change we’ll be sure to let you know but in order to build the anticipation some more, give the trailer below a little watch.
