Shocktober is here and accompanying the Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight sale this week are a ton of ‘shocking’ discounts for Xbox One and Xbox 360. But chances are you won’t be able to afford the lot so stick with us as we check out the very best, and the very worst, of the Xbox Live Deals With Gold sale for 25th-31st October 2016.
There is most certainly a ton of quantity included this week round with a rather huge number of discounts for both Xbox One and Xbox 360 players to get involved in. But as we all know, quantity doesn’t always translate to quality and there are only really a few proper bargains to get involved with.
Grab – Action Henk – 60% off – £4.80
It may be hugely colourful and far from complex but Action Henk delivers in spades.
A speedrunner at heart, Action Henk is a dream title should you be looking for something to spend hours on end perfecting. But even if you’re not one of the strange breed of gamer who time everything, then you’ll find some lovely fast action and utter joy at ‘medalling’ each stage and picking up the shiny rewards for doing so. If it had some online multiplayer modes, then it would be a no-brainer but still Henk brings a damn lovely single player campaign.
With a rather hefty 60% off, the next week should see you spending a bit of time with everyone’s favourite, ageing action hero.
Go on, give it a go. You might just like it!
Grab – Alien: Isolation – The Collection – 67% off – £16.50
You looking for scary? Alien Isolation is going to give you scary. In bucket-loads!
It’s also very well priced this week with the entire collection on Xbox One coming in at just £16.50. Now, for the amount of content you get – the base game, the Corporate Lockdown, Trauma, Safe Haven, Lost Contact and The Trigger expansions plus Last Survivor and Crew Expendable (featuring the original Alien cast) – it’s ridiculously good value and should be snapped up immediately.
Just be sure to give Isolation some time though as it is most definitely a slow burner which gets better the more you play through it. Please do yourself a favour and ensure you battle through the slow pace of the first couple of hours of campaign…because after that it positively explodes!
If you’re an Xbox 360 only player, then the 75% off and £9.99 price tag of the standard game should well be considered too.
Leave – Hitman – The Complete First Season – 10% off – £40.49
Yes, you’re reading that right. 10% off the first season of Hitman. Hardly seems worth it does it?
And we’re here to agree entirely with those thoughts, dismissing Hitman straight off the bat. Now, it’s not a bad game, and the amount of content included in the first season is fairly substantial, but we are here for the discounts and the Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight sale can do a whole load better than give us a measly £4 and 10% off.
With the first season basically over, we don’t think it’ll be long before we are seeing much bigger discounts on the season and for that reason implore you to leave it alone. For now.
So, Shocktober may be in the house and the Deals With Gold sale may have a ton of discounts, but unless you’ve been holding out for a certain game, then you aren’t going to find much in the must have category. If you like the look of our purchasing choice then you should also be taking a visit to CDKeys and grabbing some of their super cheap Xbox Live credit too. It’s the smart thing to do!
As always, don’t forget to let us know what you are tempted by. If you want to check out the full deals for the week, then you can find the full Xbox Live Deals With Gold and Spotlight sale right here.
