10 Second Ninja X gets release date and innovative ‘price point’ challenge!

-

10 second 1

We told you a while back that 10 Second Ninja X will be releasing this summer. Well now it’s got itself a release date and a rather clever pricing strategy.

10 Second Ninja X will arrive on Xbox One, PS4 and PC on the 19th July 2016. It’ll be priced at anything between £4.99 and £7.99 (€5.99 and €9.99), with the final price to be decided by YOU, the gamer!

This is done with the addition of the ‘Prepare To Buy’ Edition – something which will allow players to set the final price of the full release. To get the price down, Four Circle Interactive and Curve Digital are wanting gamers to get involved in the free to play ‘Prepare to Buy’ Edition, unlocking stars in the process. Depending on how many of those stars are unlocked in the five level demo, the price will come down.

You can play the free demo and help discount the price by hitting Steam at http://store.steampowered.com/app/435790/ or by checking ou the DRM-free flavour over at http://10second.ninja/challenge. Whether you download it or just play it via your browser, for each star a player collects in the demo, Curve Digital will drop the launch price for everyone who buys the game by 0.0008 per cent.

If 50,000 stars are collected by players worldwide prior to release, the game will be discounted by 40 per cent for the launch period – bringing it down to an almost irresistible £4.99 (€5.99) from its regular price of £7.99 (€9.99) across all formats.

“10 Second Ninja X may look like a straightforward action platformer,” says Dan Pearce from developer Four Circle Interactive, “but it’s so much more than that. Achieving three stars on any level is a challenge – so we wanted to reward those who gain stars in the demo by offering a real, financial reward. With 15 stars available in the demo, we only need 3334 players to demonstrate total mastery. We have every faith that the challenge will be met.”

“Potentially dropping the price like this is a ridiculous idea,” adds Simon Byron from publisher Curve Digital.

A running total of the number of stars collected can be seen live at 10second.ninja/challenge. The challenge runs until 00:01 BST July 18th, after which the launch discount will be set.

10 Second Ninja X is a blisteringly fast, satisfyingly difficult and surprisingly methodical sidescroller which tasks players completing each level within 10 seconds. How much will you have to pay at launch? Who knows! What we do know is that you can check out our hands-on preview right now. We’ll also have a full review for you soon too!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
