2 more free games come to Xbox via Games With Gold

It’s the middle of the month, and you know what that means? Yep, the Xbox Games With Gold scheme is found delivering a couple more free titles to Xbox gamers. If you’re looking to fill your back catalogue, or are just looking for something easy to play, you won’t want to miss these.

As revealed at the back end of August, the Xbox Games With Gold scheme for September is once again providing Xbox 360 and Xbox One gamers with the opportunity to take home four free titles during the month. It kicked off with the stunning Tom Clancy’s The Division and de Blob 2 as the month rolled into play, but here and now as the hump of the month is reached, two more titles become available to download for free.

Those games are The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 on Xbox One, and the native OG Xbox title, Armed & Dangerous; a game which is, thanks to the power of Xbox Backwards Compatibility playable on Xbox 360 and Xbox One too.

So what do we have with these games? Well, taking the Xbox One game first and A Book of Unwritten Tales 2 will usually set you back £23.99. Until the middle of October 2020 though, Xbox Gold members can grab it for free, downloading it to their library for times of need. What plays out when you do eventually fire it up is a brand new adventure that comes about via the King Art team – they behind the original The Book of Unwritten Tales and the rather lovely The Raven – Legacy of a Master Thief.

It promises to deliver a massive story that brings together more than 20 hours of the very best point and click gameplay, mixed up with a host of humour, tons of puzzles, and some weird and wonderful characters. If you’re looking to kick back and get your teeth into something that is rather relaxing, this should well be it. Just get over to the Xbox Store and take home your download.

Accompanying that game is the old school Armed & Dangerous. First released on the original Xbox back in 2003, chances are this hasn’t really stood the test of time any better than the multitude of other titles from around that time, but for free – and the opportunity to save on the usual £8.99 asking price – you may as well get it added in right this minute.

A third person shooter that took home reasonably decent reviews back in the day, this is all about heading off on what seems like the most impossible quest. Succeed though, and you’ll be safe in the knowledge that your time spent will be a worthy one. Should you wish to give it a shot – even if it’s only for 5 minutes – the Xbox Store will provide the free download until the end of the month.

With The Division still available for free to all Xbox Gold members, and the addition of these two titles now in place, as always it’s a great time to be an Xbox gamer – particularly as the move to Cloud Gaming and a whole host of other free-to-play titles emerge through the Xbox Game Pass.

Let us know what you think about these latest additions to the Xbox Games With Gold scheme though. The comments are down below.

Armed & Dangerous Description:

Meet the Lionhearts, a smack-talking rag-tag band of rebels bound on an impossible quest. They’re destined for victory in 12,000 bullets or less. If they can make it through an army of psychotic robots and wall-smashing Goliaths, they just might save the world … If they don’t burn it down first.

The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 Description:

A new adventure from KING Art, the creators of The Book of Unwritten Tales, The Critter Chronicles and The Raven – Legacy of a Master Thief A fantasy story with over 20 hours of pointing and clicking The trademark BoUT-humor, lovingly spoofing LotR, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Discworld, The Hobbit, WoW and more Hundreds of weird, yet oddly logical puzzles The well-proven “Multi-Character-Gameplay” An ensemble of quirky characters, both well-established and brand-new Projection Mapping technology unites the merits of 2D and 3D styles and technique An epic soundtrack with all the classics and many new compositions The established four playable characters Wilbur, Nate, Ivo and Critter

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
