Control will be coming to Xbox One, PS4 and th Epic Store for PC come August 27th 2019, and it could well be said that anticipation levels are high. Today though 505 Games and Remedy have dropped a little reveal, of the award-winning and BAFTA nominated composers behind the incredible score.

Revealed today is the fact that award-winning composer Martin Stig Andersen (INSIDE, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus) and BAFTA-nominated composer Petri Alanko (Alan Wake, Quantum Break) are behind the creation of the score for the supernatural action-adventure game Control. Combining Andersen’s experience with creating eerie compositions with Alanko’s unique blend of orchestral and electronic arrangements, the renowned duo is joining forces to form an otherworldly soundscape for Control’s mysterious world.

“I couldn’t imagine a better match for Control than Petri Alanko and Martin Stig Andersen. Martin’s deep and moody style combined with the unique energy of Petri Alanko elevates the end result into something special,” said Control’s Game Director Mikael Kasurinen. “While both capture the tone of the experience, they approach it from different perspectives, complementing each other beautifully.”

It could well be said that Control’s score is being carefully crafted to back an ever-changing world that juxtaposes reality with the unexplainable – and that’s certainly the idea. See, Andersen and Alanko’s scores will mirror Control’s dynamic gameplay elements by evolving around the game’s moments of stirring surrealism and fierce action.

“We knew Control required a very specific form of music to fit the aesthetic vision. Given the exceptional scores of their previous projects including Alan Wake, Limbo and Inside, it was clear to us that combining the talents of both Petri Alanko and Martin Stig Andersen would be perfect for creating such a weird, supernatural soundtrack for Control,” said Control’s Senior Audio Designer Ville Sorsa.

Have a little watch of the reveal video below. If you like what you see then you should be setting your alarms for August 27th 2019, when Control hits Xbox One, PS4 and the Epic Game Store for PC.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
