6 of the most exciting games to hit Xbox One in June 2018

-

June is meant to signal the onset of the quiet period of gaming releases, but 2018 is bucking the trend and throughout its days we are set to see a ton of new games hit Xbox One. But which are the most exciting? Which have the draw that others don’t? Well, this little lot should be pinging up on your radar.

ONRUSH

Whenever Codemasters put their name to a racer, it is worth sitting up and listening. And whilst ONRUSH may be a different type of racing title to anything that has gone before it, we should still be more than up for the challenge it brings.

An action packed arcade racer, you can expect to find not only heart in the mouth calls and unrelenting hair-raising action, but gravity defying, over the top fun as we ditch the utter need for crossing the finish line first, in exchange for style, flair and taking down all opponents.

With the power of RUSH and Boost pushing things along, a sim-racer ONRUSH is not – but hey, who wants realism when you can have true fun?

Vampyr

London in 1918 probably wasn’t the nicest place to be. But that’s not going to stop us from paying it a visit in Vampyr, the upcoming action RPG from DONTNOD.

See, not only does past DONTNOD history prove that they know how to make a game or two, but the draw of the Vampyr is one that many are super intrigued by.

The question is, will you be the one to embrace the monster found within? Can you survive the fight against those hunting you down and will you be proven enough to manipulate the world with your unholy powers?

Well, you’re only really going to be able to find all that out by stepping into the shoes of Dr Jonathan Reid and helping save London from doom.

Jurassic World Evolution

The hype is building and in just a few short weeks we won’t be able to move for dinos as the world goes Jurassic crazy.

And to accompany the release of the big screen movie, we see Frontier Developments putting all their skills to good use with the release of Jurassic World Evolution – putting you in charge of the most famous tourist destination the world over.

Hitting up the Muertes archipelago and bringing dinosaurs to life, Evolution will see you messing with science, forgetting about security and pushing the entertainment factor to 11 as you try and find the best way of playing with life itself and creating the ultimate dinosaurs.

With iconic characters from all across the franchise dropping in for good measure, and decades of Jurassic lore to fall back on, chances are Jurassic World Evolution will be the very best dinosaur themed game to yet hit Xbox One.

Tour De France 2018

Yeah okay, so this may not excite many, but as a MAMIL I love my bike racing.

Unfortunately, all previous Tour de France titles have been a bit, well, rubbish, however I’m going to sit here and go out on a limb and say that the next edition of the official Tour de France game will be a bit better. Why? Well, surely Focus Home Interactive have learnt from the many past mistakes to be able to create a bike racer that actually embraces the culture and delivers the utter joy found in climbing up mountains… before careering back down them again.

With a new Pro Leader game mode, reworked progression and fitness systems and an improved, aggressive and enhanced AI, I seriously hope that is the case with Tour de France 2018. But if it isn’t, then well, we’ll just have to hold out for 2019’s version.

Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy

What’s that you say? Crash is coming to Xbox One? Oh yes!

Previously accessible on other formats, it’s now time for the world’s favourite marsupial to whizz on to Xbox One with the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, letting us get involved in the very best Crash moments in full HD.

Included in the N.Sane Trilogy are the original Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped. Should you be in the need to put some umph in your wump, and have missed taking charge of the manic bandicoot in recent years, then you should most definitely be getting involved now.

The Crew 2

Forget what you thought about Ubisoft’s original open world racer and prepare yourself to take to the air, hit the high seas and race across the land with the sequel – the most exhilarating open racer ever created.

A huge number of cars, bikes, boats and planes will be available to choose from as Ubisoft gives us the chance to hit the USA and test our driving and piloting skills in multiple disciplines.

Should ONRUSH not be the racer for you, then The Crew 2 may well be… especially should you be able to coerce some mates to join you on the huge open road that is being delivered.

So there we have it. It may be June and the quiet period in gaming may be just around the corner, but in the world of Xbox there are still a decent number of new games arriving for us to enjoy. What will you be picking up? Have we missed your favourite out? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
