There’s no doubt about it, Raccoo Venture absolutely screams 1990s. In particular, 3D platforming. Which is a bit of luck really as it is that in which it has been fully inspired.
Available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, as well as PlayStation, Switch and PC is Raccoo Venture. It comes from the QUByte Interactive team as they join forces with one Diego Ras to provide players with a new take on the old-school classics.
This time around it’s the 1990s which come to the fore. And in that is the good old 3D adventure platformer. It’s a genre that has been treated to some fine games over the years – we’re going to pick out Yooka-Laylee, but feel free to add your own favs in the comments. It’s that in which Raccoo Venture is looking to emulate.
A 1990s inspiration
Priced at £12.49, Raccoo Venture isn’t the cheapest of games, but similarly, there are a ton out there which are much more expensive. As a punt, it feels about right – but let our upcoming review seal the deal for sure.
Should you go splashing the cash then you’ll find Raccoo Venture working as a bit of a spiritual successor to that previous scene. A bit of a love letter if you will, you’ll be found controlling a little Raccoon; a little guy who could have been considered as a gaming mascot back in the day.
In Raccoo Venture you’ll discover a world in which the Guardians have split. It’s for the good of the world, but now that the Tattooed Armadillos have rocked up, that balance and security is in grave danger. You’ll not to put a stop to their antics, working your way across various platforming areas, taking them down as you go.
With secrets, magic, rewards and more all present, Raccoo Venture should well tick the boxes you are looking for. As long as you are looking for an old 90’s inspired adventure.
