It’s been a while since any new games have hit the stores, but this week sees two very different Xbox One games released for our first gaming pleasures of 2017.
Resident Evil 7 Biohazard – 24th January – Xbox One
The acclaimed Resident Evil series is back, aiming to return to its horror roots for the first time in a few iterations to provide a terrifying experience. Set in a rather sinister rural America in modern day times, players will pick up the story right after the events of Resident Evil 7. You’ll be roaming the creepy Baker house in first person perspective, playing as the main protagonist Ethan as he searches for his missing wife. Fans of the series can expect plenty of exploration, puzzles and an incredibly tense atmosphere.

Earthlock: Festival of Magic – 27th January – Xbox One
Having already released to the market via digital form, SnowCastle Games will be hoping the magical world of Umbra can conquer the retail stores. Earthlock takes you and an unlikely band of heroes – led by a scavenger named Amon – on a turn-based combat journey to save Uncle Benjo, facing off against a varied amount of monsters and using a kiting strategy to take on as many as you can handle. There’s also a whole load of customisation options to choose from when levelling characters up, thus providing more control over the character’s arsenal of skills.
