Whether it’s painting the walls with gels in Portal 2, colouring in a fantasy world in Disney’s Epic Mickey, and now playing with colours in Chicory: A Colorful Tale on Game Pass, there is something oh so magical about using colour to explore games.
Releasing today on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, following prior launches over in the world of PlayStation, Switch and PC, Chicory will test your puzzling capabilities across a cartoony land, as you use art to rescue friends and restore colour to this once dull and desperate land.
The Brush is Mightier than the Sword
When it comes to navigating this eventually-colourful world, your character will be doing so by medium of paintbrush. Drawing is the name of the game here, with Chicory: A Colorful Tale on Game Pass and Xbox asking you to draw lines and shapes to solve puzzles and platform your way through the game. It’s something that is best described visually (check out the trailer for the game, down below).
Talent in the Audio Department
With things looking so impressive graphically, it is only right that the audio department is up to the same standard. Chicory features an original soundtrack by the one and only Lena Raine, who previously composed the amazing soundtrack for hit-platformer Celeste. Oh, and she did some work on Minecraft – you’ve heard of it?

Chicory is now available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, joining previous releases on PS5, PS4, Switch and PC. For those of you lucky enough to own an Xbox Game Pass subscription, the game can now be downloaded free of charge. Otherwise, you can pick up a copy for £16.74 via the Xbox Store.
