Wales Interactive continue to champion the full-motion video scene and on the back of a host of other FMV opportunities will soon come the chance to spend a night at The Isle Tide Hotel.
The Isle Tide Hotel is Wales Interactive’s next FMV option (previously behind Maid of Sker and Bloodshore), dragging in players and throwing them into the rooms of this weird hotel, as a live-action interactive mystery plays out.
Due to arrive in Q2 2023, playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android, The Isle Tide Hotel focuses on an absent father who is looking to save his teenage daughter from a strange cult gathering, just as their final night at the titular Isle Tide Hotel plays out.
As with most FMV experiences, it’ll be up to you, as the player, to unravel the mysterious events that take place, all as you try and save Eleanor Malone. Just be sure to know that each and every decision you make will affect the story which unfolds.
Open every three years for three nights, a strange mix of colourful characters hiding personal traumas gather in this hotel in order to uncover the one thread binding them – the search for the meaning of life. But tonight, this mysterious organisation must decide whether to break their own etiquettes and hand over a teenage girl to their elusive founder, Dr. Aniston, who promises her sacrifice will conclude their purpose.
Many questions await. How do you infiltrate the hotel? Will you coax your way into the cult? Do you discover the hidden lore, side quests and their dedicated endings or fail at any one of the ruthless narrative puzzles? You’ll get to navigate a branching narrative with numerous ways to help rescue the daughter you’ve never met.
The key features include:
- A live action game which responds to your choices
- 7 main endings available with 14 different outcomes
- Side quests which have dedicated endings
- Real-time personality and cult association tracker
- In-game chapter skip menu – but you have to earn it first
Narrative features include:
- A unique cult with its own rich history and rules
- Paths blocked behind information
- Cryptic notes to hidden endings
- Hidden lore and ‘Easter eggs’ to discover
- Sprawling dialogue options that make you see the same character in a different light
There’s a bit of a stellar cast holding it all together too and you should expect to see all of the following wandering the corridors of this hotel…

- Jemima Rooper (“Flowers in the Attic: The Origin” (2022), “Matriarch” (2022-Hulu),

Harry Chadwick, Writer & Director of The Isle Tide Hotel said: “The Isle Tide Hotel is inspired by classic RPGs with branching dialogue options, allowing the audience to explore a complex cast of characters, with filmic inspiration from Agatha Christie’s Crooked House and Rian Johnson’s Knives Out. It’s an FMV with levels, uncovering more each time you play. We wanted to make sure every decision affects the story and each story ends with a tough moral choice. It asks one key question; how will you decide to save Eleanor Malone?”
Grace Monroe Chadwick, Producer/Co-Founder, Interflix Media said: “We have relished the opportunity to work alongside Wales Interactive to bring our interactive content out of VR and into the wider market.
