The big noise may be coming out of the Microsoft Flight Simulator door, with the free Top Gun: Maverick content that is included in there. But if you want to be seen as a proper fighter pilot, there’s only one game for it – Ace Combat 7. Thank god then that Top Gun has hit that too.
The Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown – Top Gun: Maverick (yep, silly long name aside) content is without doubt something you’ll want to involve yourself in. Priced at £15.99, this is no little free offering and instead adds a host of Top Gun related goodies to the game.
- You’ll need Ace Combat 7 to hand in order to enjoy it – and lets be honest, if you’re a pilot, you’ll have that already – but then adds in six different aircraft, nicknames and emblems.
It’s the Aircraft Set itself which holds the joy, with the F-14A Tomcat, F/A-18E Super Hornet, 5th Gen Fighter, DarkStar and more included. It’s probably best if we leave the finer details to Bandai…
– Playable Aircraft: F-14A Tomcat A large carrier-based fighter that replaced the F-4 in handling fleet defense. Its striking twin engines and variable-sweep wings set it apart from other aircraft. Further are a host of Collaboration Emblems – VF-1, VFA-213, Phoenix and a couple of logos from Top Gun: Maverick alongside eight character emblems – Maverick, Phoenix, Hangman, Payback, Fanboy, Rooster, Bob, and Coyote.
There are also Collaboration Nicknames to enjoy too – yeah, Goose is in.
There’s a chance that what is included here in Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown – Top Gun: Maverick trumps that of Flight Sim and whilst you will have to pay for the privlege of this one, we feel the price is about right when you consider the content to hype ratio.
If you don’t already own Ace Combat 7, then there are a couple of other Top Gun: Maverick themed packs too. The full Edition will cost you £64.99 (discounted to £25.99), including the game and the Top Gun content, whilst the Top Gun: Maverick Ultimate Edition for £84.99 (discounted to £33.99) adds the Season Pass and some tunes for good measure.
