Remember the madness that unfolded when Journey to the Savage Planet released back in 2020? It’s time to relive that chaos as a new free update hits the game, with the Employee of the Month Edition delivering new-gen support for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
It’s been one hell of a journey for the team behind Journey to the Savage Planet. Having been bought up by Google, sacked off as Stadia failed and then reignited as Raccoon Logic, it’s a wonder that Journey to the Savage Planet is even a thing. But it is, and with the IP fully secured by the newly named studio, progress can be made.
First call is an update, ensuring that Journey to the Savage Planet is optimised for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. It’s that which is the main thrust of the Employee of the Month Edition as 505 Games and Raccoon Logic push out support for up to 4K visuals, alongside a Performance vs Graphics option.
The best thing about it is that it is free to owners of Journey to the Savage Planet on Xbox and PlayStation. There’s plenty more alongside that though and the previous Hot Garbage DLC is now included, as are new in-game ads, new Martin Weed videos and photo mode filters and frames.
Downsides? Well, Employee of the month is seen as a separate entity to the original game and will therefore need to be downloaded separately, with the systems in play on Xbox and PlayStation recognising previous purchases. That does however mean that NO previous saves will carry over. Some may see that as a big old negative, but honestly, we had so much fun in Journey to the Savage Planet first time around, that running through it again will be no issue. And on the flipside, more Xbox cheevos. Stick around for a full review from us as we tackle the chaos and confusion of the Employee of the Month Edition on Xbox Series X|S soon.
“We’ve been through an acquisition, we’ve been made redundant, we’ve formed a new company, and reacquired our IP, but some way, somehow, the Employee of the Month Edition of our wacky game is finally coming to new consoles,” said Alex Hutchinson, Creative Director, Raccoon Logic, weeping only a little. “Thanks to everyone who supported us, especially you, Value Employee. You’re my favourite, whatever your name is.”
For now, you will find the new edition kicking around on the Xbox Store for Xbox Series X|S and the PlayStation Store for PS5 at some point today. Keep an eye out for it.
