You can trust Activision and Call of Duty to make a mark whenever a new generation of gaming consoles is unveiled and that is the case here and now. Yep, Call of Duty is back. Black Ops is Back. And it’s time to immerse yourself in a Cold War.

Available to purchase and download right now from all the usual digital stores, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is the latest in the ever-increasingly lengthy line of Call of Duty titles, releasing on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC to once more deliver the blockbusting signature cutscenes and class-leading gameplay to the gaming masses. And it’s moments like that which ensure it was included in our pick of the Xbox games out in November.

Priced at £59.99 for the Standard Edition, and then moving up in price as you get access to extra goodies, Cold War whisks us away to the early 1980’s, dropped slap bang into the middle of the most volitile war – the Cold War.
Complete with a single player campaign that promises to pull out all the stops as we get treated to time with some of the most iconic of historical figures and some of the hardest truths, this will take us around the globe, dropping in on Germany, Vietnam, Turkey and the Soviet KGB GQ.

Yet whilst the solo campaign really does look set to deliver some of the most frantic shooting moments in recent gaming history, many will be looking to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s other gameplay options – namely the Multiplayer experience and that of Zombies. It wouldn’t be Call of Duty without those, would it!

If you’re set for a lifetime in the Black Ops and reckon that the Cold War is the experience you’ve been waiting on, there are other options away from the Standard Edition of the game. These see the £64.99 Cross-Gen Bundle sort you out with both the Xbox One and the Xbox Series X versions of the game, alongside the addition of the Confrontation Weapons Pack. Further still is the Ultimate Edition for a cool £89.99. This covers the bases of that of the Cross-Gen Bundle, but then also adds in the Land, Sea and Air Pack with a trio of Operator Skins, Vehicle Skins and Weapon Blueprints. It gets better with the inclusion of the Battle Pass Bundle too – that in itself will sort you out with the 1 Season Battle Pass and no less than 20 Tier Skips.

And if you really like Cold War, make sure you consider a purchase of the £7.99 Endowment (C.O.D.E.) Challenger Pack. It’ll give you access to two new weapon blueprints, but in return you’ll find cash heading straight off to support military veterans from the US and UK.

As a direct sequel to the original Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is possibly the most anticipated Call of Duty title for years. We’ll have a full review for you in the coming days, but for now grab your copy from the digital store of your choosing. You should find it on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and PC.

Game Description:

The iconic Black Ops series is back with Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War – the direct sequel to the original and fan-favourite Call of Duty®: Black Ops. Black Ops Cold War will drop fans into the depths of the Cold War’s volatile geopolitical battle of the early 1980s. Nothing is ever as it seems in a gripping single-player Campaign, where players will come face-to-face with historical figures and hard truths, as they battle around the globe through iconic locales like East Berlin, Vietnam, Turkey, Soviet KGB headquarters and more. As elite operatives, you will follow the trail of a shadowy figure named Perseus who is on a mission to destabilise the global balance of power and change the course of history. Descend into the dark center of this global conspiracy alongside iconic characters Woods, Mason and Hudson and a new cast of operatives attempting to stop a plot decades in the making. Beyond the Campaign, players will bring a Cold War arsenal of weapons and equipment into the next generation of Multiplayer and Zombies experiences. Welcome to the brink. Welcome to Call of Duty®: Black Ops Cold War.
