Back in May we heard that the team at Crunching Koalas were getting set to drop their manic monkey-themed space party on to Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC at some point in 2020. Unfortunately, like much of this last year, that release date has been pushed back a little to 2021 – but at least we’ve got a new trailer to compensate for the delay.Â
Now coming to PC and console in Q1 2021, Bonkies promises to deliver a rather jolly good time, working a couch co-op route that mixes in some construction building with the power of space monkeys.Â
Yep, you’re reading that right, space monkeys. But Bonkies gets better still by infusing these monkeys with jetpacks and robo-arms. What more could you ever wish for!
After picking up some pretty positive feedback from players enjoying the game in Steam’s Early Access, Studio Gauntlet and Crunching Koalas will now be looking to drop the game to a worldwide audience on PC and console in 2021, tasking players with all manner of quirky space constructions set on distant planets. You’ll be found doing this by stacking blocks so they fit a given outline, teaming up with other space faring animals and mastering the use of your trusty apequipment in the process – namely a banana-fuelled jetpack and a powerful robo-arm.Â
When it does hit home, expect to have access to both single and multiplayer campaigns, tons of hand-crafted levels and the need to work with plenty of wit, agility and coordination.Â
Features will include:
- Have fun with up to 3 friends or by yourself in single and multiplayer campaigns
- Raise and accidentally topple stacked blocks with physics-based mechanics
- Travel to the far reaches of the solar system and help colonise places like Mars and Pluto
- Tease your brain with tons of cleverly designed challenges
- Make good use of a multitude of special blocks
- Guide monkey astronauts with state-of-the-art equipment
We’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date with how Bonkies continues to deliver over the months ahead. For now though, enjoy that new trailer.Â
