Bulwark Falconeer Chronicles is a gorgeous city builder

There are many city builders available across Xbox, PlayStation and PC. But have any of them looked as gorgeous as that of Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles?

Available right now as the latest game to come out of the mind of Tomas Sala is Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles. This follows on from the critically acclaimed The Falconeer, as Sala attempts to deliver a stunning city builder to the gaming world.

Priced at £14.99, there’s no doubt that what has been put together here in Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles is of the very highest quality. But does that mean the sprawling city building aspects, towering structures and epic monoliths can combine as one? We’re currently hands-on with Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles and will be delivering some review thoughts very soon.

A familiar world awaits

A game in which players have total freedom, in Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles you’ll be found creating, sculpting and shaping the land around you, turning the world of the Ursee into a wonderful place. Connecting lands, building alliances and utilising survivors are all par for the course here, with your decisions dictating how things play out.

With a minimal yet Steampunk aesthetic, we’ve found it to be a cinch to turn small villages into towering triumphs, creating cities that thrive going forward. And much of that is down to the simple UI and how it has been crafted to the game controller. In fact, we’re not sure that civilisation building has ever been so easy.

If you loved The Falconeer, then we would suspect you’ll find joy with Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles. It might be a total switch from aerial combat experience to all-consuming city-builder, but the universe that Tomas Sala has been able to create seems to be capable of adapting to whatever plays out.

Buy now!

You’ll find Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles on the Xbox Store. It’s playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Alternatively, you’ll be able to spend time with this one on PlayStation or PC.

There’s also a free DLC pack for the game. That comes in the form of the Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles Dreadnot Day One DLC, free to download from the Xbox Store. Grab a download and add it into your game and you’ll find a powerful Naval Commander front and centre, utilising the Imperial Dreadnot. You’ll find it available for use once your Imperial population reaches 210.

Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles Description

Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles is an open world builder with freedom and expression at its core, allowing players to build sprawling towns, spires, and fortresses that become hubs for trade, or rallying grounds for conquests.

Carve your legacy into a world shattered by the decisions of those who came before you, tower by tower, wall by wall, sculpting from the daunting cliffs and perilous waters of an unforgiving landscape that refuses to be tamed.

Tasked with rebuilding a civilization devastated by the aftermath of a war 40 years prior, you are in command of creating the last great settlement upon the Great Ursee – a vast, fantastical oceanic world filled with lost myths, breath-taking vistas and danger.

From humble docks and wooden jetties, you will scavenge resources and grow your settlement as your population and creations grow ever grander, sculpting monumental stone towers and battlements that scrape the skies, where airships and giant warbirds rule.

Create trade routes and strike alliances with other factions scattered across the waves, acquiring powerful Captains and Commanders to protect your creations and utilise their aid in exploration – or muster your own battlegroup to strike at them, waging war upon your ancient enemies.

This world and its choices are yours to make – what legacy will you leave behind? What creations will bear your name? Build Your Bulwark.
