One of the latest to go down the Game Preview and Game Pass route is that of Lightyear Frontier, a game that takes farming sim elements but puts it into space.
The final week of the Horizon Race Off dawns in Forza Horizon 5, yet as we prepare to bid farewell, there is a last hoorah in the shape of the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges for Series 32 Spring.
You may not have heard of Loretta, but dismiss the psychological thriller at your peril. In Episode 197 of TheXboxHub Official Podcast you'll get to hear about the game - and why it is very nearly perfect.
As another week passes by, our weekly podcast returns to provide an episode filled with gaming news, thoughts on recent releases and other goings on in popular culture. TheXboxHub Official Podcast Episode 27 features discussion about many things including Final Fantasy VII Remake and some of the weirdest conspiracies our team have heard about. There’s also a clever quiz to partake in too, celebrating International Haiku Poetry Day.
I am a firm believer in the old adage that "you learn something new every day" and the thing I have learned today is the word "caprine". As equine is to horses, and ursine is to bear, so caprine is to goats. However, I didn't start writing this article to come across all Sesame Street, I wrote it to look back to one of the silliest games I've ever played - Goat Simulator.
Come with me to the seven seas as I cobble together a list of my favourite gaming marine creatures for National Dolphin Day - and yes, it includes the good old dolphin. Obviously.
Aside from the possible ethicality behind delaying the game due to its similar reality to our own, Resident Evil 3 is here. I have to point out, it was pretty surreal - a deadly virus, within a matter of a couple of months, has evolved into a global pandemic. Sound familiar? After breezing through its five-or-so-hour campaign, and diving head first into its asymmetrical multiplayer mode Resident Evil Resistance, I often questioned how it compares to the fantastic 2019 remake that is Resident Evil 2.
On release in 2010, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction on Xbox 360 and PC saw good reviews and sales – more than one million overall - but it won over few new fans.
Once more, the weekly instalment of our podcast is here, covering all sorts from the world of gaming and anything else that’s eye-catching. TheXboxHub Official Podcast Episode 26 delves into the latest news emerging from the Inside Xbox show as well as the recently revealed PS5 DualSense controller. As always, there are recommendations about some of the newest games on the market, including any which should be avoided.
There's no one you can so passionately love and hate as a sibling. But as much as you want to throw your controllers at them, it's tough to not miss them at the moment. If distance is keeping you apart, or even if it's not, here are some games to play to either remind you of the rascals or connect with them through gaming this National Siblings Day.
Remember Daytona USA? Used to love a bit of Outrun? Curve Digital, Sumo Digital and Lucky Mountain Games are looking to revive those glory days of the arcade racing scene with Hotshot Racing on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC. And judging by the early preview version we’ve been hands-on with, they could well be on to a bit of a winner.
After spending many a year over on Steam, pushing the PC crowds through numerous tactical battles, it's time for Convoy: A Tactical Roguelike to make its way to console, launching on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. With such a unique premise and outline, we wanted to find out more about why console gamers should be excited for this strategic roguelike affair. And so we hunted down the development team in order to fire some questions their way.
Today - 7th May - as you probably know from the title of this piece, is World Health Day. It could not have come at a more perfect time - in both a personal and societal sense, and it always helps to keep knowledgeable and aware. And the gaming scene can help with that knowledge, in a variety of ways. Whilst multi-format, hopefully every one of these titles will offer a little something different to mull over. Or for you to just enjoy.
I must admit, before heading into Rock Of Ages 3: Make & Break, I had no idea what to expect. And after coming away from it, I have no idea what happened. But it is this which makes it fascinating - with a wacky sense of humour and a strange mix of tower defense and racing, it’s incredibly easy to see its appeal.
The original Desperados: Wanted Dead or Alive set a precedent for western-style strategy games way back in 2001. It combined a wonderful story-driven atmosphere with a tough, intelligent tactical system. Desperados III, now from Mimimi games and THQ Nordic, is heavily inspired by Wanted Dead or Alive and from my time with it, it delivers. You can root, toot and shoot your way through it later this year on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
The original version of Dark Souls 2 was released on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in March 2014, to a pretty good reception. However, the edition of the game that I'm looking back to here is the first of the series to make its debut on Microsoft’s shiny new Xbox One (as well as PS4, obviously) - Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin. A suitably doom-laden title for an oppressively difficult game, to be sure, including all of the previously available DLC as well as upgraded visuals, new online features if that was your bag and some slight tweaks to the storyline.
Licensed LEGO games have become a regular staple on consoles nowadays, with most major franchises wanting, and often succeeding, to get the brick treatment. Whether the focus is on DC Comics heroes and villains or the hobbits and orcs of Middle-earth, some good-hearted family fun is always on the cards. But now it’s time to take our minds back to where it all began and shine the spotlight on the original Xbox (OG Xbox) title that sparked a legacy still going strong 15 years later. So let’s remember LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game from 2005 and the ever-growing video game saga that followed.
