What We Want From the Remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis

Released way back in September of 1999, the third entry in the series made perfect sense for being the next in line to receive the remake treatment. Especially now, when the first two games have been remade to critical acclaim. As the last game in the series from the era of the PlayStation, Resident Evil 3 has undoubtedly aged poorly and the rudimentary tank controls could benefit from an overhaul as well.

Taking a look at Cuisine Royale via Xbox Game Preview

April Fools is always an amusing time of the year in the gaming industry with joke announcements and comedy content often releasing for the masses to enjoy. Cuisine Royale is one such joke spawned from an April Fool’s Day surprise, however should you spend just a little time with the kitchen themed adventure will find that Cuisine Royale not only brings a serious amount of comedy value, but also a more than capable Battle Royale experience.

The Importance of a good single player mode in the FPS Genre

There is nothing wrong with running multiplayer only and of course, as with Battle Royale games on the market currently you can see that many excel, but I wanted to talk about a few FPS games from the last few years that in my opinion have great examples of single player modes and why I feel they are still important.

Looking Back to 2014 and Outlast on Xbox One

Scaring people is not easy; scaring people while not relying entirely on jump scares is even more difficult. Designers and writers have decades of unique horror stories to draw inspiration from, yet only a select few of them succeed. Among those few were the developers at Red Barrels who, despite the lack of experience within the horror niche, managed to create something lastingly special with Outlast. They understood the core building blocks of a good horror game and imbued the project with their own unique flavour.

Let’s Play We. The Revolution on Xbox One

You can play your shooters forever more and get involved with the fastest racers wheneve ryou like, but every now and then it's nice to see a new style of gameplay experience arrive. That is most definitely the case with the upcoming launch of We. The Revolution on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch, with the teams at Klabter and Polyslash building on a previous PC release. Want to get a first look at some of the console gameplay?

Are video games art? Looking back at… Child of Eden

“Are video games art?” This is a perennial argument, one with staunch advocates on both sides who are hard to sway. Naysayers, though, can be shown examples of art in video games that are hard to deny – such as the visuals of the sadly overlooked Child of Eden, released for Kinect in 2011.

Taking a look at Hunt: Showdown in Xbox Game Preview

Hunting is something I don't like to do too much of. I don't eat meat you see so I’d much rather let the little animals run free and munch down on a can of beans, or some fruit I've gathered in the wild. I do like hunting down humans and monsters with no remorse though and thankfully with Hunt: Showdown it's my lucky day because I get to do both of my favourite pastimes in one full experience… PvP and monster hunting at the same time. So son, get your shotgun, for it's hunting season.

Looking back to 2014 and EA Sports UFC

Being a relatively new fan of the UFC myself, the excitement levels were high and the launch of EA Sports UFC could not come soon enough. When it arrived on 17th June, 2014 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 though, did it match the adrenaline-fuelled brutality and technicality that this combat sport is known for?

Anthem: Don’t Believe The Gripe

A lot has been said about Bioware's looter shooter Anthem, numerous YouTube types and reviewers alike all have an opinion, usually negative, about the game itself whether it be the perceived lack of endgame, or, EA... well being EA really... Everyone has an opinion. The game itself hasn't been helped by tales of a dying player base, rumoured monetisation practices and quite a lot of unfounded “why Anthem sucks now” opinion pieces splashed around the internet.

5 underrated Superhero games you may have missed

With Square Enix presenting gameplay of the new Avengers game at E3 2019 and with the release of Sony’s Spider-man on PS4 last year it is fair to say we may be heading into a new golden age of Superhero games on consoles. While watching the videos that were released of the new title, I began thinking about Superhero games that I had enjoyed over the last 10 years since Arkham Asylum’s release. I remembered there were a number of them that surprised me with how good they actually were and after looking online and speaking to friends discovered they had little fanfare, or people simply wrote them off for being movie tie-ins despite some being reviewed well. I wanted to speak to you all about just a handful of these titles so that they may get some of the recognition they deserve, but also so you can enjoy some hidden gems of the genre.

The 12 Best Games of E3 2019

The following games are the ones from E3 2019 which look the most exciting, appear the most impressive, and are without doubt the ones which you should probably be very excited for. Let the games begin.

10 Major Takeaways from Square Enix at E3 2019

Square Enix came out swinging at E3 2019 and there was a huge swath of announcements and ports. But what were the major takeaways from one of the best shows of the year? Well, these 10 are certainly right up there with what you need to know about Square’s excellent showing.

9 Reasons to be hyped after Bethesda’s E3 2019 Briefing

Here we go again. Another year has passed us by and E3 2019 has given us plenty to talk about. Bethesda were third out of the traps to showcase what they had to offer the gaming masses this year. Understandably, you may have missed the briefing, as it was broadcast in the UK at 01:30am. But never fear, dear readers, as right here you will find plenty of reasons to be hyped about what Bethesda had to show. 9 in fact.

The 5 most exciting moments from the Ubisoft E3 2019 conference

So here we are again watching and waiting for what I like to think is the "Cirque du Soleil" of E3 game conferences - Ubisoft! And they didn't disappoint, as the conference had all the theatrics we might expect from Ubisoft with a full orchestra playing a melody of the Assassin's Creed soundtrack, and the strange and energetic Just Dance routine with someone - once again - dressed in a panda outfit. There was also a revelation that they have been working on a TV show about making games, and have a film of The Division upcoming, in production with Netflix. But what about the games? Well, if I'm honest, the Ubisoft showing at E3 2019 felt a bit empty and certainly not as exciting as it has been in the past. But I've still managed to put together 5 of the most exciting moments of the conference

6 things Microsoft nailed with their Xbox at E3 2019 Presentation

As I settled down in front of Mixer at 9pm on Sunday night, accompanied by a mere 133,000 others to view the Xbox at E3 2019 presentation, little did I suspect what I was about to see. From announcements about the next generation of Xbox hardware to more than 60 new games that were announced, after it was over and done I was left with a pleasant kind of afterglow. While I would have liked to have seen possibly fewer games but in greater detail, the lack of actual gameplay hasn’t stopped me from getting ridiculously excited about the games out later in 2019 and beyond. What I have done here then, for nothing more than your reading pleasure, is to cull my personal top six moments of the 97 minute stream, to look in-depth at the 6 things Microsoft nailed with their Xbox at E3 2019 presentation. And believe me, it has been a lot harder than I thought it was going to be.
