We’ve already seen a few updates hit Overcooked 2, delivering new chefs, new kitchens and new recipes to rustle up. Now though there’s another and this time we see the Overcooked 2 team celebrate the Chinese New Year with a new free update.
Coming from Team17 and the award winning developers at Ghost Town Games, Overcooked 2 is the ultimate party game, putting you in the shoes of some wacky chefs before being let loose in the kitchen, attempting to serve up dishes to potential diners. Today though it’s all about Chinese New Year and the latest free update for Overcooked 2 on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC. This sees the game added to with new chefs, more kitchens and some new recipes to enjoy cooking up… all alongside a new Survival Mode.
This addition piece of seasonal content for Overcooked 2 will be found transporting you to a new map in order to face culinary chaos, with seven stunning new kitchens in place. With the tranquillity of Koi ponds, incense and drifting lanterns you will get to grips with two new recipes – the fruit platter and hot pot. Further to this, two new chefs will be joining players for this journey… an ornate dragon chef and Chinese New Year pig chef.
The update also sees the introduction of “Survival Mode”, seeing you serve as many dishes as possible in the time given, with each dish served adding precious seconds to the timer. You’ll need to survive for as long as possible in this frantic race against the clock, with it being available for all levels in the main game, the Surf ‘n’ Turf DLC and both seasonal updates.
So, the key features of the Chinese update for Overcooked 2 are as follows:
- New kitchens! Experience seven new kitchens, beautifully themed for Chinese New Year. New kitchens mean new hazards and so watch out for the dancing dragon who has mistaken your kitchen for a parade route!
- New recipes! The simple yet delicious fruit platter is a traditional Chinese New Year dish that signifies fullness and wealth. Hot pot is a great dish to make with friends and family so chop some bok choi, prawns, and meat and get cooking. Just don’t forget the noodles
- New mechanic! The Chinese New Year update sees the introduction of a new piece of cooking equipment: woks. Used for cooking hot pot, you must make sure that it remains bubbling by keeping the wok over the lit fire.
- New chefs! The Chinese dragon is ready to take the heat of the kitchen fires and the pig may be the 12th sign of the Chinese zodiac but is ready to be first in line for kitchen duties.
