Loved what Remnant: From the Ashes provided players when it rolled out to console and PC back in 2019? Well, you should be keeping a super close eye on what happens with the development of the prequel story – Chronos: Before the Ashes – particularly now that it has a confirmed console and PC release date.
With Chronos: Before the Ashes you will get old, or die trying, as the next release from Gunfire Games – they behind Darksiders III and the aforementioned Remnant: From the Ashes – sees you taking on the rol of a young hero who is found trying to save his home from an ancient evil.
Sold as a story prequel to Remnant, Chronos will see you exploring a a mysterious labyrinth, full of both fearsome and mystic creatures, along with challenging puzzles. But as you would expect from a title in which history is rich, combat is unforgiving and brutal, however any death is not the end. You see, each time the hero fails, he is cast out and must wait one year to return to the labyrinth – letting you try again, but one year older. When you start your journey, it’s still easy to get stronger and quicker, but the older you get, the more important your wisdom about the arcane powers will become.
This unique leveling system looks set to provide the draw of Chronos: Before the Ashes, with the base experience based on the VR-exclusive Chronos from Gunfire Games. Here though it has been overhauled and optimized to work on all platforms without the need for VR support and that will allow Chronos: Before the Ashes to release December 1st 2020 on Xbox One, PC, Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch and PS4.
Features include:
- Adventure RPG – Refreshing combination of Adventure Game elements and RPG mechanics.
- Deep Combat – A variety of weapons, abilities, and powers are available to the player in the pursuit of their quest.
- Unique Aging Mechanic – Every time the player dies they age one year. Players must adapt to their advancing age as they progress throughout the game. You will begin your adventure young, nimble, and quick, and end your time in the game wise and more attuned to magic.
