2020’s Coffee Talk went down a storm. It’s a game that we still talk about to this day, chatting over the late night tales that it brings. So Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly is one that is hugely anticipated by many – and today we get full confirmation of a release date. Clear your April diary.

Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly is the sequel to the original Coffee Talk, a mega-indie hit that came out of nowhere to wow us with its tales. It means that the second game is one that we just have to play, and after being pushed back from a planned 2022 launch, it’ll be here come April 2023.

Toge Productions and Chorus Worldwide have today confirmed that the barista adventure that is Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus & Butterfly will release on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC come April 20th 2023.

It’s then when we’ll get to take a trip to a present-day Seattle, rocking up in a familiar coffee shop and listening in on the customers. With urban fantasy aplenty, you’ll fast discover that strangers turn into acquaintances, old friends return, and as you concoct the perfect coffee, the chat flows.

You’ll be serving a range of customers too – humans, succubi, orcs, and banshees as they all endure all-too-real problems. In fact, it’s probably the coffee which will help them out, and here you’ll be found combining a mixture of ingredients such as tea, ginger, mint, chocolate, and many more to cater to each customer’s preferred flavor profiles. You’ll also get to design creative latte art with an in-game fluid simulation, making each drink as delightful as it is delicious, all whilst cozying up to the tranquil atmosphere of a coffee shop full of lo-fi chillhop beats.

“Coffee Talk Episode 2 means a lot to us,” said Shintaro Kanaoya, founder and CEO of Chorus Worldwide. “After seeing Coffee Talk’s world and characters for ourselves, we knew we wanted to contribute to that universe. We’re ecstatic to be working with Toge on this heartfelt story and getting it in front of anyone who enjoys wholesome narratives this April.”

We’ll be sure to remind you when that April 20th release date comes around. Let us know if you’ll be playing Coffee Talk Episode 2 on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch or PC.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
