Despite sounding very much like a knock-off Robocop, Cyber Citizen Shockman is certainly anything but, and is perhaps one of the most Japanese games ever created. So much so, that despite Cyber Citizen Shockman exciting the Asian market many decades ago, it is only today that the game reaches Western shores.
Releasing on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch consoles, Cyber Citizen Shockman tells the story of two students – Tasuke and Kyapiko – who turn out to be androids built by the crazy genius Doc, and also have the ability to transform into the superhero Shockman!
Doc has had previous in the inventing department, yet his first attempt at creating a human-android mutant went terribly wrong, releasing the Skull Force out into the world. You know where this is going: either as Tasuke or Kyapiko, you must harness the power of Shockman, and take down the Skull Force once and for all.
You’ll be side-scrolling fighting (much like the likes of River City Ransom, for example) across 18 distinct and colourful stages, facing off against a variety of enemies and picking up gold along the way. Along your journey, you’ll be met with some fearsome bosses, in the form of a three-headed dragon or the like.
