Take down the wizard in Kalinur on Xbox

Retro metroidvania action, anyone? It’s exactly that which Kalinur is providing as it releases on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

A retro metroidvania

From the Penguin Pop Games team, Kalinur hits home on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S to provide adventure news. Or old, depending on your point of view. Also available on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, if you’re up for a bit of a challenge, or are after some full-on rewards, Kalinur will deliver.

It’s priced at £4.99 and that immediately ensures that Kalinur will be extremely tempting to many. None more so than those looking to explore a huge castle in hope of bringing peace back to a kingdom. You’ll have to take down the evil wizard in order to do so though.

Thankfully in Kalinur you’ll have plenty of abilities and skills to hand. Upgradeable should you wish, there’s a double jump, a dash, a magic sword and more. You’ll need to make the most of those in order to take down the swathes of enemies too.

It all feels a far cry from Penguin Pop’s other games like Taco Tom 2 and Egglien.

Features include

  • Metroidvania, Heavy on the ‘Vania.
  • Classic NES-inspired Graphics and Music
  • Exploration-heavy Gameplay with 11 castle areas to unlock and explore!
  • 31 unique enemies and 9 bosses to defeat
  • Lots of Upgrades and Items… it’s a Metroidvania!

Ready to defeat the bosses of Kalinur and save the kingdom? Kalinur is on the Xbox Store, playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. You’ll also find it on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

We’ll be reviewing Kalinur very soon too.
